Were can i get these?

Right at the moment i have a filter going into the test socket (gives best speeds) with the router plugged in then the faceplate in the phone connection of the filter

This works fine.

Before it wasnt like this i had filters on each phone.

Now the way its set up i only need the one as everything goes through this one on the master socket.

butt. My problem is the cordless phone.

Insted of having the standard phone end to plug into the phone socket it has the smaller ones(forgot the name) like what you use for broadband modems.

It did have a converter that came with it but it was lost a while ago.

So for quite a while now i have had a filter at the end of the phone then the filter into another filter and that filter into the socket, This was tempory and it was the only way to get a connection.

This works fine and no problems but im thinking it might effect my broadband speed? no?

But as the router comes nowhere near the set up as it connects before it.

I have my sync speed could this be lower made by my set up?

Here you go

http://www.ebuyer.com/customer/produ...duct_uid=57734

Alternatively you can use a standard modem cable, only downside is that the phones will not ring

Any pc world or maplins will also have the right cable, you just want a RJ11 to BT

I can't buy a standard modem cable as i cannot change the wire, Or i would change it for a standard phone cable.

I bought one of these, Two infact http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.d...MEWN:IT&ih=017

and it doesnt work, Both of them give nothing when plugged in. ! :'( and now i have my broadband speed sorted out to the max after 2.2mb for a year so i have sorted the cabling out, Including the ring wires etc.. and want this sorted.

I wonder whats up with it.

As above.

You might have to experiment with the wiring as it might not using standard RJ11 wiring.

First try the middle two pins of the RJ11 plug to the outer two pins (2 & 5) of the BT plug.

See: http://www.wppltd.demon.co.uk/WPP/Wi...telephone.html

If the phone was an el-cheapo designed for UK use only then with just two wires it might not ring, but most phones incorporate their own ringing circuit.

I dont think i am up to that

I would just be worried that i couldnt get it back on again!

I cant even get the back off the base to see whats on the other end of the cable, Its not the regular head to take it apart.

Could i not modify the adaptor do you think?

I can see on the phone connection that the green and red wire are entering the RJ11 and are in the middle two,

(taken the casing off the adaptor)
and on the adaptor i can see where the RJ11 goes in that it set out
... which is EMPTY RED YELLOW
... BLACK GREEN EMPTY

and these wires go to the normal bt connection are entering the connection BLACK RED YELLOW GREEN.

I can take the adaptor apart and anything to try and get the connection working.

Thanks for your help.

The middle two of the RJ11 connector should go to pins 2 and 5 on the BT connector.

It looks like your adapter is wired up incorrectly, if you can open it up and move the wires around then it should be easy.

Incidentally, the BT plugs are easy to connect, you just push the wire into the holes, no need to strip it first. Once they are all the way home, you put the template on the top and squeeze with some pliers, job done.

I would take a picture but the details that need to be seen are blurry

So first of all thankyou for your help.

The phones connection has two wires going into the RJ11 connection at the end. In the middle two spaces and its the red and green wire.

Now on the Adaptor.

Where the RJ11 goes into this i can change the wires around from inside as i have taken it apart,
Im not sure how i can explain what colours go where as they are in two rows of three and there is 4 wires in total, A Black,Green,Red,Yellow

Now these 4 go into the normal BT connection, Im not sure in what order as im not sure how to take these apart to check/change, but from the back with the pin connection facing up its Back,Red,Green,Yellow.

Can i change anything to get it working? :'(

Thankyou

In one post you give the colours of the BT connections, and in the other post you give the colours in a different order.

If the colours in the first post are showing the current order of the BT end of the adapter, I would swap yellow and green around and try that.

Sorry, The wires were not in place when i glanced over to look but i have checked a few times and its BLACK RED GREEN YELLOW.

Also, when you say swap the colours around, The only place i can swap them is the RJ11 side. Hope this is right.

Im not normally this 'dumb' lets say with technical 'stuff' but its totally over my head and ive never really touched telephone wiring, But there is a first for everything

Thanks for help also.

Right, I have figured out that i need Black to green and Red to yellow. As i have just took the pins out of the adaptor and gone through each of the pairs untill i got something,

All i need to do now is find out whee it place the two back in the adaptor and im away

Done it

I taped the other two up just incase they touched and caused any problems, And the other two connected to the 'half' of the adaptor and it works a treat now

Thankyou to all that helped me, You have been a big help.
