How to connect a Panasonic DVD recorder to Sky
Can someone please help.
I have recently purchased a Panasonic DVD Recorder and I am unable to get it to record SKY channels. The problem I have is that both DVD recorder and SKY have 2 scart connections while my Sony TV only has 1 scart. Does anyone have any solutions. Thanks |

The Panasonic will have RGB Passthrough from Scart 2 (AV input) to SCART1 (TV output), though I believe you can play out/record on either.
Suggest you connect your Sky box via SCART and RGB set to AV2 on the Panny, and then connect AV1 from the Panny to the TV. Select AV2 as input source on the Panasonic, with RGB set. You should then be able to watch your Sky output through the Panasonic, and record anything off the Sky box. If you press Play on the DVD, the TV will show the playout from the DVD and not the Sky input on AV2. Does that make sense? Or get an RGB compatible SCART switcher. |

An alternative is Digibox AV1 to TV and AV2 to the DVD-RAM AV2. In DVD-RAM Set-up AV1/AV2 settings set AV1 input = Video; AV1 output = RGB; and AV2 Connection = Ext Link 1.
The benefit is you get Sky Autoview to control recording when the DVD-RAM is set in ExtLink. The downside is you record Sky in Video rather than RGB. Does the TV have a separate S-Video input as the DVD-RAM has the output option? |

Mine's two also: The SCART config. I use is
Digibox AV1 to TV AV1 Digibox AV2 to DVD-RAM AV2 DVD-RAM AV1 to TV AV2S The DVD-RAM Set-up Menu is AV2 input = Video (AV1 in previous post was a typo, sorry). AV1 output = RGB (or S Video as my TV AV2 can switch) AV2 connection = Ext Link 1 to work with Autoview* The reason for three SCARTs is RGB only travels in one direction. So the DVD-RAM takes RGB in through AV2 and out through AV1. The Digibox is AV2 in and AV1 out. Unfortunately this means I can only record Video not RGB from the Sky box. I could swap over if recording something important instead of timeshifting. The AV switching on Pin 8 is set for Digibox play-through and Autoview [Pin 8 high] on AV2. A diode on Pin 8 of the AV2 link lets the Autoview signal in but prevents the DVD-RAM over-riding Sky on TV AV1 for play-through. As I currently use cheap SCARTs with minimal insulation, I snipped all the unused SCART pins and got a lower background interference on Sky RGB pictures. *Ext Link 2 records in Ext Link whenever there is a video signal on AV2 |

Note freakyboy has Sky+ - as do I. No Autoview!!
Best you can achieve is that when you use the Copy function and the DVD-R is setup correctly, it will start the record automatically. |
