iTunes & iPod question...
Hogs Head

Hi all!

I've got quite a lot of songs on my iTunes playlist, and obviously on my iPod Nano as well. When I go to charge my iPod up, all the songs from iTunes are automatically sync'd into the iPod - as you all know which happens anyway.

However my iPod is getting rather full now, and i've found myself deleting songs from iTunes in order to save space on my iPod.

Is there anything I can do on iTunes, any button or link I can press on there which can allow me to keep the songs on iTunes but not let it be transferred onto my iPod?
I don't want to have to keep deleting songs on iTunes to save space, as I generally use both quite a lot!

Thanks!

Kenny.

Create yourself some playlists

Fav artists
Fav songs
etc etc

When you connect your nano change the option from all to selected playlists, and select the playlists you want to sync

This way you will have it all in iTunes but only the selected playlists on the nano

Turn iTunes to manual then select the songs you want and drag them over yourself?

Best way as suggested above is to create a iPod specific playlist and only include in this playlist the songs you want on your iPod.

This is what I have done with mine, until I decide to upgrade to a full spec iPod.

You can specify certain playlists to sync, manage songs entirely manually, select only ticked songs to sync or a combination of techniques.

Also you could look at using a smart playlist (hold shift when you make a playlist). This allows you to set criteria for songs that are automatically put into it.

eg you could set it to a limit of 3Gb, songs that you have a star next to and that you last played more than a week ago etc.

Itunes has an option of either automatically syncing or be managed by the user (manually), when you plug in your ipod the options become available, you can individually select or deselect to sync automatically for music, movies, podcasts, games etc.
