Not an answer to your question but why would you need to connect SCART and HDMI? I thought that the HMDI connection transferred a digital signal and SCART (RGB) an anolog (sic - that how Sony spell it!).
I have the Pioneer DVR 545HX-S and am trying to connect it to a Sony KLD-32D3000 but neither unit seems to want to talk to each other via HDMI. Any idea why both HDMI menus on the units are greyed out? I dare say there is a simple answer but I too need some help in finding it.
Do you now of any 'simple' connection diagram e.g. if SCART is required which SCART sockets to connect and the menu options to set.
Thanks

Thanks.
As I only want is to view digital from the DVD player I assumed the SCART was unnecessary. Anyhow with the HDMI cable connected to AV4 on the TV I can view channels, DVDs and HDD direct form the Pioneer. So that's a step to the right direction BUT I can't simply press play on the DVD and the TV is 'automatically' switched to select the DVD input. I have to select the AV4 'input' from the TV menu.
Now with my ancient CRT Sony and JVC video play its far simpler - I just press the play button on the VCR remote and there's the picture on the TV. Why can't so called modern units speak to each other? After all PC component manufactures have managed it.
