I have recently upgraded my mobile and no longer need my current one (sony erric w550i). My canadian cousin needs a phone and I was thinking of giving her mine.
Do I need to do anything special with thephone or can she simply take the phone to canada, put in a native sim card and itll work as normal..

any help will be appreciated

More than likely the handset will need to be "unlocked". Either see your local market or ring your service provider and ask for a "subsidy pin", there will be a charge but this is likely to be less in a local market/phone shop than the provider.

Doing this doesnt gurantee phone features with other networks.

Check if it isnt unlocked already by trying another networks sim card in.
