I just upgraded my T-Mobile Vario II to WM6 using the standard HTC upgrade. It works fine. But I can't really see much difference, other than a slightly different colour scheme.

What exactly am I supposed to have gained other than the geeky satisfaction at doing something that T-Mobile say they aren't going to provide?

Yeah well - who gives a toss about that.

If T-Mobile did the right thing and provided the update then I wouldn't have to go about it via nefarious methods. But no, no free WM6 for you like all other TyTN users you'll have to upgrade to our Vario III. I want the update damn it I don't care if all that's happened is a change from a "5" to a "6" on the "About" page!

Besides, if it goes faulty I'm sure the corner of a brick in the appropriate place and a claim on insurance will sort out that problem.

Yes.

I've never used Windows live so I don't really know what that is. It has Windows Update, so that should be pretty useful.

I've just been playing around with the calender, and it does have some nifty new features. I particularly like the time-ribbon thingy at the top of the daily view.

I also like the look of the internet connection sharing option. That should make it pretty easy to get it hooked up to my laptop, but I haven't tried it yet.

Seems like a nice little update, better than nothing at least if not a complete OS overhaul. It seems a bit petty of T-Mobile to not offer existing users the update. One of the benefits at least of switching to a genuine HTC TyTN ROM is that I've finally got rid of all the T-Mobile customisations! I'd managed to remove most of them but there were still some areas with the horrid pink-and-white colour scheme. Now it's all cool-green

I believe you can edit attachments on 6 but not on 5.
