I was just reading the thread about the Slug and Lettuce bar and it got me thinking about the time I made a meat pie. I was really proud of my pie as I'm not really a cook. I opened a tin of peas to have with it, stood watching the pan come to the boil, when all of a sudden a SLUG bubbled up to the top of the pan. OMG I so nearly gipped! If I hadn't seen it and had served the peas....

Put me right off the pie, and tinned peas for a looooong time!

LOL that's vile.

I once found a washer in a bag of potatoes ... nothing too vile.

Oh and when I was working for a well known bakery many many years ago I found a plaster in an uncooked apple turnover!

I used to work in a chippy. Round the back were all the rubbish bins. One night a 2 year old kid came round the back as I was having a crafty fag and told me he could smell maggots (I kid you not - 2 years old!). I looked over at the bins and right enough one of them was alive with maggots. An hour or two later and it was like the invasion of the bodysnatchers, there were literally thousands of them heading toward the chippy door. It was like some awful horror movie, they were inside the chippy, crawling over every surface. I threw bleach and hot water on them to no avail.

I have never seen anything so disgusting...made me ill for days.

A hair. It looked like a pubic hair!

I heard another McDonalds story. A woman bit into a chicken burger and a cyst that the chicken had popped in her mouth!

Wow! That's been doing the rounds for quite a few years. An urban myth I think you'll find!

Until a few days ago I would have said hairs... sometimes I see people about to put them into their mouths and am too disgusted to do anything about it

But

I caterpillar appeared in my organic cooked broccoli the other day, my god I nearly puked.

A toenail.

Either that or the owner had fat fingers.

My ex once found part of a cow's ear in a tin of corned beef.

He phoned the company to complain and they told him to send the can to them but he refused. The next day a representative from the company turned up at the door with a big box of tinned stuff as an apology. Another one exactly like it turned up via courier a couple of days later.

He didn't complain much about it after that

Earwig in the sweetcorn; a moth in the soup.

Not sure which one was worse.

oh god people! all these things make me sick. I couldn't cope finding something disgusting in my food. I would be sick.

Funnily enough I have a strong stomach when it comes to blood and guts. Just not stuff near my food thank you.

Years ago, when I worked in a hospital school down Surrey, using the staff canteen at lunchtime I was sickened to find a gigantic dead cockroach hiding under my piece of meat. For the remainder of the time I worked there I just stuck with cheese and crackers, or toast made by myself.

In Portugal last year, there were these orange trees at this idyllic villa complex of 3 flats we were staying at in the countryside.

One evening my little sister went instead of my parents to pick some oranges to juice, and she picked some bad ones.
We juiced them, and put them in cups, then noticed little black dots floating in them. Upon further inspection, they were maggots! I was almost physically sick, put me right off fresh juice!!

The worst I've had is a small green thing crawling out of a raspberry.
