Gmail Mobile App Help
Hi
I'm trying to download the Gmail app for my mobile, a Nokia 6300 on Vodafone. I've downloaded it before on an older mobile when I was on O2. I go to gmail.com/app on the mobile but it takes me to the web version and I cannot download the app. What can I do to make my mobile go to the WAP version and not the full web? |

You are going to the wrong address. You should go to mobile.google.co.uk
Make sure you are using a wap browser and not a web browser. |

That takes me to the WAP-based login, which is what I don't want.Quote:

I want to download the Gmail App.Entering http://gmail.com/app on a PC takes you to that page. Entering the same URL on a mobile device take you to the WAP version of the above page in order to download the App. The Gmail app cannot be downloaded from http://gmail.com/app on a computer, but it can from the same URL on a mobile. My mobile's browser is taking me to the full web version of the above URL. I need my browser on my mobile to take me to the WAP version of the URL as all previous mobiles have done. |

I'm not overly familiar with the Nokia 6300, but does it have seperate web and wap browsers? If it does you should use the WAP version (normally called Services.)
If not then Google is mis-identifying your handset browser as not belonging to a phone. When you go to mobile.google.co.uk is there an option to change between the mobile and full version ?(At the bottom of the page). Incidentally, it shouldn't redirect you to gmail.com/app but to a URL of the form www.google.co.uk/m/ or www.google.co.uk/pda?client= If I had to bet, I would say your browser is being identified as a desktop browser. |

I'm using the standard nokia browser called "Web" from the menu. I'll put another network sim in when I get home and see if that will help. |
