Feel free to include any memories relating to your chosen song(s).

Here are a couple to get us going.

The Motors - Airport.
Remember my brother had a Motor's poster on his wall at the time... a smiling Jayne Mansfield with the slogan "I lost my head over the motors."

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=baLilwDcjko

Gary Gilmore's eyes - The adverts
After being told the story of Gary Gilmore, I would actually cry when this record was played!(I was only 7).So its not really a favourite just memorable.

I loved the Motors - Dancing the night away was another good one...great instrumental intro that goes on for about three minutes before the main songs riff kicks in

If we're talking Blondie, my favourite has to be "Picture This." - still have the 7" single. Never hear this on the radio anymore

Other fave 70s songs include:
Todd Rundgren - I saw the light in your eyes (what a classic)

Renaissance - northern lights - I always thought it had a slight ABBA feel to it. I've heard this quite a bit recently on Radio 2.

Steely Dan - Reelin' in the years

Staple Singers - I'll take you there

The Jam - Down in the tube station at midnight - was, is, always will be my favourite Jam single.

Siouxsie & the banshees - hong kong garden

The Police - can't stand losing you

The Stranglers - No More Heroes

Rezillos - Top of the pops- they should have used this as a theme tune!

Carol Bayer Sager - You're moving out today - lyrically, this is one of the most funny songs recorded. Genius!

Squeeze - Take Me I'm Yours - one of my favourite bands ever - and this clip reminded me that Johnnie Walker used to host Top of the pops 2. Legend.

Elton John - Lucy in the sky with diamonds - one of my favourite cover songs. It's a legendary song.

Wings - C Moon - Wings are definitely in my top 10 70s bands and it's hard to pick a favourite but... I'll settle for this.

John Lennon - #9 Dream

10CC - I'm mandy fly me - such an underrated classic.

Liverpool express - you are my love - probably one of the few songs that gives me goosepimples everytime I hear it. This rarely gets mentioned/played now as well.

Stylistics - Betcha by golly wow - what a voice!

Chi Lites - Too good to be forgotten - absolute feelgood classic.

Moments - Jack in the box - again, a feelgood smash. They made some cracking songs. "Dolly my love" is a really good one too.

Moments - Love on a two way street

Gladys Knight & The Pips - Baby don't change your mind

Odyssey - Native new yorker - I much prefer the 7" version of this - it's slightly faster and has that cracking saxophone intro. "Where did all those yesterdays go?"

Jacksons - Blame it on the boogie - my fave disco song.

Alessi - O lori - perfect night in music!

Carpenters - Superstar - such a sad song but it's one of my favourites.

Neil Sedaka - Laughter in the rain - one of my "guilty pleasures."

Clout - Substitute - another guilty pleasure I'm afraid!

Suzi Quatro - Devil Gate Drive - oh yes!

David Bowie - Starman - this song made me fall in love with Bowie's music.

Dollar - shooting star - and we get to see Jimmy Savile - yay! As for this song, loved it from the word go.

Cher - Gypsies, Tramps & Thieves - everything about this. Such a catchy song but the arrangement does it for me too.

Earth, Wind & Fire - got to get you into my life (I love this cover version!) - word of warning - doesn't get started until 00:58 in this clip... great interpretation of one of my favourite beatles songs.

Stevie Wonder - Sir Duke - hard to decide between whether "innervisions" or "songs in the key of life" is my favourite stevie album from the 70s... This is definitely one of my all time favourite songs though.

Tubeway Army - are friends electric? - an absolutely classic number 1. This was so ahead of its time and to me, it still sounds great now.

Mr Big - Romeo - I love this track.

That's just the start of it. I could do a whole thread on 70s reggae. Great decade.

Iggy's Passenger, Blondie and Tubeway Army with a few mentions

Player1 - Couldn't remember 'Dancing the night away' so I looked it up on youtube, I still couldn't remember it! It's the full length version too(no vid though).

That's quite an eclectic mix tortfeasor, from The Strangers and Siouxsie and the Banshees to Dollar and Neil Sedaka

I think it was their first single. It didn't do much here but it was huge in Europe. I love it.

Hehe - thanks fuzzy! I confuse all of my friends with my musical tastes - I've been told I have a schizophrenic taste. I agree, but I much prefer your label "eclectic."

I don't know what it is but I just seem to jump the genre barriers. I'll happily listen to the Skids' "Into the valley" one minute and then have something really naff, but good (in my opinion) like It Bites' "calling all the heroes" on next...

Oh as for Cockney Rebel - Judy Teen is one of my favourite 70s songs... I can't find a clip for it - it's a great song though. I'd sooner listen to that than "make me smile."
