I'm grateful to the OP for starting this thread, and for the reviews, because I'm leaning towards getting the Nokia 6300.

I want a good camera phone, and Bluetooth, so this seems like the one to me. But are there any bad points, or little things I need to consider before I seriously thinking about it?

Also, I want it on PAYG, so how cheap can I get it, and on what network? Am on Vodafone now, but have read good stuff about Orange...... which network is the best?

Apologies of these are basic questions, but I'm not up on phones as I have a basic one now (Sagem MyC5-3 pink flip phone) and it's my first ever phone!

Thanks in advance!

the cheapest way to get this handset on PAYG is on T Mobile, buying the handset from TheLink.com. It is £79.99 with free special delivery next day by 1pm. I have also purchased a Krusell case for the handset due to reports i've read of the casing getting scratched (buy this on ebay £9.90 or there abouts)

content, such as themes, mp3 ringtones, backgrounds etc, can be downloaded free from www.mobile9.com to your pc and uploaded to the handset via the usb cable supplied in the box.

As for T mobile, calls to any network at any time are 15p per minute. Texts are 10p per text. Not sure about international calls though. Downloads via wap/gprs is charged at £7.50 unless you sign upto the £1 per day max scheme (see www.t-mobile.co.uk for further information on charges)

Thanks for the information and links, much appreciated!

Good to hear there IS a USB cable with the phone - dont know why said person stated there wasn't one with it!

I've heard some dodgy things about T-Mobile, but I've been browsing various website and you have to buy the phone with £10 Airtime with a lot of the stores, therefore upping the pricve of the phone to £130.00 with Carphone Warehouse, and the cheapest, £110.00 with Phones 4 U! Would rather get this phone on Vodafone or Orange network, but if it means upping the price of the phone, then I'll stick with T-Mobile.

How do you find the T-Mobile network?

sun-beam i tell a lie (i apologise ) I have a brain like a sieve, you do NOT get a usb cable with this handset, I was thinking of my Nokia 5300 which did come with one.

I am on a contract with t mobile at the minute - I personally wouldnt recommend a contract with them due to strange price plans ( no set amount of minutes/texts - you are given an amount to spend which covers both texts and calls - i get £34 of credit for £20 per month, which would give me 170 minutes or 340 texts or a combination of both) As for PAYG, they are very backwards in the sense that they do not allow you to upgrade your handset. By this i mean you buy a new phone from CPW, are forced to purchase £10 credit which is put on the new mobile number - T mobile will NOT allow you to transfer that credit onto your existing number and CPW will not issue a voucher or top up your existing number (I have been told its a way of showing increased subscribers to the shareholders even if the new number is abandoned after the forced credit is used up)

Buying a PAYG handset from the link means you are not forced into purchasing credit you may not necessarily need and you can transfer any existing t mobile sim directly to the handset.

but other than that, the network is fine - coverage all over.
