I bought myself the new Samsung D900i phone (in pink, from O2 ) this week, and today I managed to get it unlocked so I could use my T-Mobile contract sim card in it.

I've since found that I can't get the keypad tones to work (they're constantly on silent), and also when a message is sent, a change is made to the phone, etc.. it's also silent, whereas my previous phone (the D900) obviously always made a sound, unless the phone was set to silent mode. Anyone know what might be the problem?

In the Phone Settings menu, Advanced Shortcuts isn't available to use. Also, in Sound Settings, the Keypad Tones menu isn't available either - I'm guessing this may be the problem? The options are there, but they're a dull grey colour, hence I can't use them at all
Apart from this, the phone is fine. I bought it brand new from the O2 shop online, so I don't think it's a fault with the phone.. I'm just wondering if there's something I can do to change the sound problems?

Thanks in advance

Hi

could it be a cock up in the unlocking ?

I thought all 02 contract phones were unlocked anyway or was it a PAYG 02 phone ?

Yeah, there is... but wouldn't that put it back onto the O2 network? I had to pay to get it unlocked, so I don't want to run the risk of having to pay twice, lol.

Oh, and it was a PAYG O2 phone. Not a contract.

Is that just "reset settings" in the Settings menu? Sorry to seem like I'm stating the obvious, lol

And do you think this is likely to fix the problem? I'm just worried that it'll create even more problems, lol.

I'm not sure to be honest with you. I've got the E900, I've done a reset before and it didn't lock back, it was on Vodafone but it's still open to all networks after the reset.

You've got nothing to lose if you do the reset

Thanks for the info.

I've just done the reset, and the problem is still there. It's so annoying, lol. It's not the keypad tone so much, but it's annoying how I can't tell when a message is sent or anything

Thanks for your help though!

No probs

On my E900, for the tone when messages are sent, I go into Settings > Tones > Extra tones > and it's the indicative tone or "action tone" it might be called. Make sure it's ticked.

Also, when you're in stanby mode with the main screen showing, press the up volume key on the side of the phone....

LOL, I owe you one

After having tried everything I could think of today, that just fixed the problem for me.

Thank you!
Shame I didn't think of it myself sooner, LOL.

Good god!

I've just worked out why my D900i (bought last friday from O2 shop) was doing the same. The standby volume was down, right down. Took me ages to figure out why it wasnt making any notification sounds or keypad sounds. OMG lol!
