Thought I'd add my opinion to this thread. Having seen Craig in his first week in Bromley, and again in his third week in Brighton, I went to the Thurs matinee, and must say he has really gained in confidence. His voice which has always had beautiful quality is now very strong during Close Every Door, it was a powerful and emotional rendition. He really commands the stage at all times now.

Must also praise Chris, who impressed greatly with his dancing skills. Vivienne didn't perform this time, but she has the most amazing voice, Charlie had a hard act to follow, but did really well. Wayne makes a great Elvis, even though I failed to spot his potential in GITW.

It is a brilliant production, performed by a superb cast, who all look like they are having the time of their lives, which rubbed off on all the audiences I've been in.

Also, my thanks to Craig who gives his time generously to the fans at the stage door, as do the rest of the cast, a great bunch.

Thanks for finding that dotty

From the article:

He's not just a handsome face but has a lovely voice, plenty of energy, sympathy for the character and fine stage presence. He's a winner and the audience - even the non-TV watchers - loved him

He has always been a winner in my eyes

Here is a review of the show from yesterday. It was written by my ten year old... and I have left it as it was written.

We jumped into the car and zoomed down the road until we found ourselves in a traffic jam. It was the worst news ever. There had been not 1 but two acedents right where we were heading. It took one and a half hours and we had barley moved. My Mum was going into the unhappy mode. Eventually when we got parked we ran like the wind down the reception. Soon we were sitting in our seats then the songs started. They were amazing. There were very funny bits with sheep and camels. I liked the dancers and Elvis.

Chris B was very professional. I liked him a lot. The Joseph coat was fonominal there must have been more than 40 different colours! Keith did a good job of narrating the story. The lights were awsom they had a colour for every colour of the coat.

After the show we went to see CRAIG! We waited to the end of the queue had gone down before we spoke to him. That was the first time I’d seen real star. Me and my Mum got his autograph and a photo. It was a great experience meeting a star in real life. After that we met Chris B and got his autograph too! He said "thanks Babe" to me.

Almost jumping for joy we hopped in the car. We drove back quickly. So I had a great day and I would hily recommend it (apart from the bit on the way there in the car). It was one of the best days of my life.

What a fabulous review little Miss Beaver

You've summed up your adventure perfectly - I can't wait to see it myself this Friday. I am very pleased you got an autograph from Craig and Chris B - keep hold of those, they may be worth a lot of money one day ! Thank you Stashy for putting this on the thread, Joseph is a great show for all the family to enjoy and how wonderful for you both to go and share the experience

Chris is a fantastic dancer isn't he. I couldn't take my eyes off him either. The only problem is that when he plays Benjamin you don't get to hear him sing, and when he plays Joseph you don't get to see him dance .

Sounds like a good excuse to see the show more than once

Link here to Joseph at the theatre website (a few nice pictures there too in the gallery)

http://www.theatreroyal.com/prod-pro...ils.asp?pid=37

It's a big theatre ! The largest and best attended producing regional theatre in the UK and the leading promoter of theatre in South West. It seats 1315 and is SOLD OUT ( to the Spice Girls - our guys can do it too hah! )

Chris Barton is performing Wednesday matinee as Joseph and at present it states the 5pm on Saturday - although last we heard this was switched to the 2pm, so it could be either show he does. Obviously check with the theatre about Keiths performances as the site is not bang up to date grrrr. Not fair is it.

Anyway, I hope Keith is enjoying the thrill of being in the tour and to all of us going - let's enjoy the show and have a fantastic time

I'll be at the Friday 8pm show with my sister and two little hobbits who are even more excited than me!

Trixie, those statistics are really impressive. The next set of tickets will disappear quickly too. Must keep an eye out for local venues in 2008.

BTW. I'm trying to imagine the little hobbits being more excited that you... and struggling!

Thank you DS for altering the thread title as requested \o/

We are now in the News & Reviews Thread It seemed to me that having this thread as a Review only thread was stopping other information from being posted. Now anything at all to do with the Joseph Tour, including any news about the tour, the theatres, the cast etc can now be posted on here.

I am very happy, thanks mods

I have seen Joseph twice, both at High Wycombe. The first time has been reviewed earlier on here, I managed to discover that keith was indeed performing as the narrator on Saturday so managed to get a couple of tickets for son and myself, not the best - upin the upper circle but hey I was there mainly to see my beloved Keith having seen the show 2 days earlier.

The parts were played by the same as before, Craig as Joseph and Chris as Benjamin, we had hope that it would have been reversed to compare, alas not to be. Not disappointed though as both are brilliant in those roles. Now Keith, ah, that voice, so beautiful and I thoroughly enjoyed the show again. Keith fitted in perfectly and didnt appear nervous. Craig at the end mentioned Chris and Keith and I got the feeling that he was pleased they were all there together.

At the end of the show Keith got a raptuous applause which you could see delighted him! They got a standing ovation yet again.

At the stage door yet again, which was very crowded this time to my dismay, Keith came out first and was so gorgeous, his huge blue eyes, he signed photos and I had my pic taken with him, we got several photos of him. I had quite a little chat with him, he told me his dad was 'over there'. Once again I thought all 3 boys were incredibly nice and please don't let them change and become bigheaded!

If Joseph is coming anywhere near (or not near) to you I would suggest you go, I am sure you will not be disappointed!!!

I think that you will find that the Bristol Hippodrome is a much bigger venue Trixie as it has an audience capacity of just under 2000. Another interesting snippet is that it has the largest stage outside of London, being the same size as the London Palladium's.

Knowing as I do how difficult it is to obtain decent seats for evening or matinee performances as most are sold out for 'Mobile Joseph' when it's there in November, you then realise how popular the show is.

This is a great idea Trixie. There was show info on various threads. This should help when the new dates come out for 2008.

Thanks!

I’ve already written a few posts about my trip to High Wycombe on Saturday. (it was amaaazing!) However, I’d also like to say how much I enjoyed the actual show.

Chris B was in the role of Joseph and Keith was Narrator. The thing which struck me was the energy of the performers. Some others have already said it, but they really do look as though they are enjoying every moment. From the time the curtain comes up, the music draws you in and the melodies flow thick and fast. I especially liked the lighting – the stage was bathed in a multitude of different hues – setting the different scenes and complementing the costumes.

The children sitting all around us were laughing out loud at the humour and a little one close to us was totally caught up in the story and was shouting out to the performers. That was just magic to see – it’s a children’s show after all and to see a theatre full of children quiet on a Saturday afternoon is a miracle!

There wasn’t a weak link in the whole of the show – Chris B has a wonderful voice and gave a memorable performance of Close Every Door. You could see him gulping for air at the end of the song – he had put so much into it; he certainly carried the show. The 2pm show was perhaps Keith’s second as Narrator; he didn’t show any nerves and was obviously enjoying himself. He worked well with the children on the stage. I thought Wayne as Elvis was hilarious – he had the swagger, the attitude and the voice. Its part of the show which really makes you smile. Wayne’s voice was spot on for the part – very believable. The supporting cast are all terrific.

I’d recommend everyone to go – it’s an uplifting experience.

I was so lucky to see these three Josephs – what a year they have had.! I wonder if they ever thought they would be doing this when they filled in their application forms at the end of last year! A big thank you to all of them.

Merchandise
There were a few bits and bobs which you could buy in the Foyer. There were Show Programmes (Current cast) and Souvenier Programmes (large with photos of past casts) which also had a *CRAIGETTE ALERT* large poster of Craig as Joseph as an insert. There were Baseball Caps, Badges, Tshirts (same as the children wear on the stage – I think) That all I can remember!
