Just got back from a matinee performance of touring Joseph in Plymouth, what a great show!
Felt a bit sorry for Chris B just before curtain up when it was announced that he was playing Joseph in this performance and a big groan went up - not from me I hasten to add as I'd specifically checked which performances he was doing! Still they may have groaned at the beginning but he WOW'd them all and had everyone out of their seats cheering and screaming by the end. The atmosphere in the auditorium was great. The place was sold out and being a matinee there were loads of school groups and the kids had a brilliant time, clapping, singing and dancing along particularly at the end. Chris sounded great as Joseph, he's got a lovely tone to his voice. And he didn't look bad in the loin-cloth either, I had worried he might be a bit skinny but no he looked fine (mind you I was sat way up in the gods so didn't exactly get a close-up view) Keith as narrator was much better than I thought he was going to be. He has a really powerful voice and a good range. He definitely impressed me and I heard lots of people saying both during the show and at the end that they loved his voice ... and he gets to wear a very snazzy waistcoat too! I also got to meet him afterwards (happened to walk past the stage door at the right time hehe lucky me!) he's really sweet. Says he's loving the show and the cast are all really friendly, they're doing 12 shows a week (god that's a lot how do they cope!!!!!) but he's only doing 10 of the 12 and Chris is covering the narrator role for the other 2 (gee I hope Chris gets a rest too sometime during the week )If this touring production comes anywhere near you I'd recommend you go and see it. It's a feel-good show with a brilliant and enthusiastic cast. |

Lovely review Holza
Thank you. Chris is becoming the rock on that tour - ready to be Benjamin, Joseph or the Narrator! What a talented guy he is - Bill Kenwright must be very glad to have chosen him ![]() Another lovely photo here, from kazziegirl and MiniCraig This one was taken at Bath.http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v7...t/104_2815.jpg |

More Thanks
Just to add my thanks for all those wonderful photos. This is going to be a very busy place soon. May I say you all seem to take such good photos as well
It really is a happy place to drop into now. Thanks for the Plymouth review. An earlier article, before the show opened, referred to the last visit of Joseph to Plymouth and the reviewer commented that perhaps the show had past its prime. Not so this production - 'Joie de Vivre' for many months to come

I went to the matinee on Tuesday afternoon. I set off very late and made a mad dash down the M5 to Plymouth, taking my seat with seconds to spare and just long enough to explain to the ladies sitting next to me that no, Craig didn't win Xfactor!
The audience were just brilliant and the place was buzzing with excitement. There were loads of school groups in who were clapping along to the music even before the curtain went up. I was amazed at the change in Craig since I last saw him as Joseph in Bath. Both his acting and singing are far more assured and he just seems so much more confident in the role. He got an amazing reception from the audience, as did Keith. I think it's going to take me a while to get used to Keith as Narrator having got so used to it as a female role. He really does have an amazing voice and the audience absolutely loved him and I really look forward to seeing him again in a few weeks time once he's fully settled into the role. Chris was, well, just Chris I love the way he moves and found my eyes were drawn to him wherever he was on the stage. I love seeing him as Benjamin because he is just the most amazing dancer but equally I loved seeing him as Joseph last week. He really has got the most wonderful tone to his voice. Of course now that he’s due to start covering some of Keith’s shows as narrator I’m really looking forward to seeing him do that as well (I’ve now booked for all 3 shows on the Saturday in Bristol ). I know I’ve said it before and I’m getting boring now but there really is something very special about that young man! I was in a rush to get back so wasn't planning to go to the stage door, but I had to walk past on the way to the car park and Craig just happened to be there, closely followed by Chris and Keith. It would have been rude not to stop and say hello . Once I’d got over the shock of Craig knowing who I was all 3 of them signed the birthday card I’d made for my daughter’s birthday. She’ll be SO excited when she sees it. All 3 were lovely but I really must learn to try to speak to Chris in English instead of fluent gibberish The 3 hour drive home seemed to fly by although I did get some very strange looks from nearby cars until I realised that I was singing Joseph songs very loudly (and out of tune) with the back window wide open ![]() Roll on Cardiff… |

I just felt I was there with you - you describe your feelings so well! I'm looking forward to hearing about Bristol! I don't know about talking gibberish - think you'll be talking fluent Joseph after three shows!! ![]() Are you doing the Stage Door three times or going for one guest appearance? |

... if you read my first post in the Craig thread, you will know that I am love with most Josephs, couldnt decide where to post first and was lucky enough to see the Tuesday (2nd) performance in Bromley where I was awestruck.
Quite apart from the stunning performances by Craig and Chris... see other threads... I have to say that I loved Wayne and the brothers generally had a huge sense of fun, which I didnt catch quite so much in the West End show (although I seriously love Lee too, so see Lee thread for that bit!) - talk about spreading yourself around!!! I also loved the way that Benjamin is depicted as a Joseph lover in the tour, which he wasnt especially in the West End - that seemed more "true" if you know what I mean. BUT - what made the day for me is that through being in the right place at the right time, my two daughters and I were invited to the opening night party by BK himself!!! Squeeeeeeeeeeeee!!! It was about 6 weeks ago and I STILL havent got over it!!! We were there for over an hour sipping wine and mingling with the stars. The brothers all made sure everyone signed the programme - and if any of you guys read this, thank you so much, you made my 10 year old's day. Craig himself was being congratulated and photographed and chatted to by all and sundry of course, but managed spent some time with us and was lovely. We had our photos taken with BK and Zoe, Johndeep who was there and was lovely and Chris..... see the Chris thread next for more!! Guys, we will be hard pushed to equal the excitement of that evening for a while!!!! COME BACK TO BROMLEY PLEASE!!!!! |

I went to see the show in the Millennium Forum in Derry tonight. I'd been really looking forward to it, and I wasn't disappointed. I was really impressed with the whole cast. I didn't like Chris B on ADWD, but he really stood out as Benjamin. I admit that I never could stand Keith at any stage, and I was overcome with the desire to giggle when he walked onstage. But you can't fault his voice, and I just learned not to watch him try to copy the Pharoah moves, etc. I did wonder how he coped with having come second in the show, yet playing second fiddle to someone who was well behind him.
Anyway - Craig was very good in the role, and the energy and enthusiasm shown by the brothers, in particular, made it a really entertaining evening. The audience went wild at the end, and Craig's little speech was very nice. |

Keith playing second fiddle? I bet it's the best second fiddle ever!
I'm happy you were impressed with the whole cast, I'm looking forward to seeing that myself. |

Link to Craigs blog, after opening night in Plymouth
![]() I've added a comment, though my proper review will be here soon Shame the last poster was unhappy with the merchandise (understandably) but I would've liked to have seen more comments on the actual show instead http://www.theatreroyal.com/blogs_entry.asp?eid=26 |
