Thanks to Henry Hippo for supplying this news and photo.

Yesterday Craig was travelling in a hire car on the motorway at 70mph, with another cast member, and had a rear tyre blowout !

Thankfully, they're fine and despite the offer of a day off - Craig and co managed to get to the theatre with just 3 minutes to spare and perform as usual.

Definitely true pros !

Review from Hamilton Advertiser:

Well here it is. My Review. Bear with me I have never ever, done this before.

I arrived with my 2 daughters quite excited as, they had agreed that I should go to Stage door after the show.My forfeit was to change my favourite seat C12 stalls to front row centre dress circle,on my own so they could sit together.

The atmosphere in the theatre was incredible ,it was a total sell out, even the Balcony(Gods) which is not often in use.

Lights down, orchestra playing, then on walks Keith holding hands with 2 children & he is wearing..yes, a dressing gown. sings to them, & then ,off with the gown to reveil a glittery black waistcoat & off we went on a spectacular journey.

Keith started to tell the story,he really was good, the narrator is a part made for him

Then Craig was on stage, what a transformation from ADWD , he was assured, confident, vunerable , funny, and annoying (to his brothers). his angel during the song ,One More Angel I Heaven, made me laugh out loud.

It was impossible not to feel for him (Joseph) during Close every Door, it was miles away from the version on his exit from ADWD. Not one licky lip or Cabaret man pant .( Not at all all through the show)

Keith opened the second half with Pharoahs Story, to ecstatic applause, he played the part so well ,telling the story at the sides with the children, then looking down on the story from above.

Craig/Joseph is brought to Egypt, imprisoned ....you all know the story, but his first meeting with Pharoah was brilliant, pure comedy.

Then we have the Brother coming to Egypt, Chris as Benjamin, shows that the Judges on ADWD were right, there was something there that the public didn't see, he dances , acts, sings , his energy is enviable, and when accused of stealing he is full of pathos.

When Joseph revealed himself to his brothers, I waited with baited breath, would Craig remember what he had been told in the auditions, when called back to see Bill etc ( that was when I decided to vote for him) , & yes he did, he spoke the 2 words , IT'S ME ,

The whole show was joyful, funny, exhuberant, full of charm, & pathos. & so well acted by the whole cast.

I loved everything , including the falling sheep, the dismembering of the goat, the charriot of gold, the delightful children singing,it truly was amazing.

& the smile? the smile so despised by ALW, yes it was there , & in abundance, especially at the end when thanking the audience, saying he had been to Aberdeen before , but only in pubs & clubs .But was grateful for his long standing fans from those days.

Bill Kenwright said he could teach someone to act , but couldn't teach heart, well Craig can now act, and has heart in abundance.

Craig then introduced Keith & Chris, who were greeted with rapturous applause.

There were many curtain calls, and a well deserved standing ovation.

They have certainly come a long , long way, since ADWD.

Well thats it , hope it's not too long, and I hope it lets you see what an incredible show it is , I beg you ,do all you can to get tickets, you will not regret it

Pat

Hi Pat

What a great review, I'm really looking forward to the show on Friday. Could you please let me know where the stage door is at HMT, I would hate to miss seeing the boys after the show.

Pat that was a fantastic review of the show really enjoyed it.

Can't wait to see the show myself.

Was there anything on sale at the show DVDs, etc., of the Travelling Joseph show. If not, Bill Kenwright should make sure he get's a DVD done so we can all enjoy over and over again. I'm sure everyone who goes to the show would buy a copy.

Hiya Jules Pat is away for the weekend, so I'll tell you DVDs available - but not of present cast. Same with brochures. Tshirts, Hats, Badges etc are available.

Agree with filming the current cast - to boost DVD sales. They would be extremely popular with theatregoers who could buy one to treasure or to present as a gift. Craig, Chris and Keith had millions watching them in ADWD and to see the show from their sofa would appeal would many.

I prefer the real thing myself, but of course it's getting to the venues that's the awkward bit. So a DVD I can watch at home would definitely be well worth the expense

They could charge more for signed copies too.

When: 12th Nov to 17th Nov
Where: New Theatre, Cardiff
Times: Mon-Thu 19:30. Tue-Thu 14:00. Fri 17:00, 20:00. Sat 14:00, 17:00, 20:00

The New Theatre website states that Chris Barton will be performing as Joseph for the 2pm matinee Weds and 5pm Saturday. This is incorrect. Chris will be performing at 2pm on Saturday, not 5pm. Craig is back as Joseph for 5pm.

The Saturday swap round happened some weeks ago, but unfortunately some theatre websites haven't updated to show the correct information.

Just seen that this is coming to Sunderland in June next year. Hope Keith is still playing the narrator by then. Really looking forward to seeing it .
