I think I heard somewhere that he was narrator this afternoon - but I've read so many things today that I could well be wrong . I'd love to see it as he's another very talented young man

Craig has been overworked of late and is therefore taking the matinee performance off. Joseph will be played by Chris Barton instead

Just got home from seeing the matinee performance at Sheffield Lycuem - with Chris B as Joseph.

Have to say that this is probably the best show I have ever seen. Everything about it works beautifully. The sets, the design, the music, the choreography - all are stunning.

But what really made the show for me was Keith. His performance was just outstanding. His vocal range and power was breathtaking - and very emotional. I had a few tears in my eyes at times!!

Chris B was very good indeed as Joseph - we were initially disappointed that we would not get to see Craig - but these thoughts were very quickly dispelled by what we saw.

The whole production is full of so much energy and love from the cast - which was returned to them by an enthusiastic audience. What made it very special too was that because it's a very "child-friendly" show, the audience was full of school parties. And as a result the atmosphere was electric. Especially in the last 15mins or so - all the kids were on their feet, singing, dancing and enjoying themselves so much. A truly magical experience.

Well done to all involved in the production. Brilliant.

I just saw the show as my birthday treat. The whole show was a treat from start to finish, it was different from the West End version, which was nice for a start as it was almost like a totally new show. My friend was a little disappointed that it was Chris and not Craig playing Joseph, but as she's a lovely happy person who doesn't let things get her down, she soon got into the show and she wanted to go to the stage door afterwards, so I agreed to wait with her. We met Keith and Chris and they were so nice! I think my friend's a bit in love with Keith now. I'm still totally into Lee, but I was so impressed with how great these two guys were.

Another one from Sheffield but whoever wrote it deserves to be sacked

Quote:
“The line-up boasts Any Dream Will Do stars Lee Mead, Keith Jack and Chris Barton as well as a competitor from its Grease Is The Word challenger, Wayne Smith.

The producers have picked the only sensible option when you have three stars and only two main roles - rotate the trio and let them take on different parts on different nights.”

- erm, can't remember ever seeing Craig or Keith in any other role

I don't know if she actually saw the show but words fail me!! Livid doesn't even begin to cover it

Blond Josephs do it better posted on Craigs Thread by Siouxsie

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Hi everyone,

Well here it is, my review of the West End production of Joseph on Thursday night.

Hubby and I arrived at the Adelphi in good time where we were told that Lee had bronchitis and that Lewis would be playing Joseph instead. I have to say that I was secretly thrilled although very sorry for the people who had come purely to see Lee and were disappointed but my view has always been that if you can't see the main actor/actress in the role, it is a shame but illness can't be helped and very often the understudy is just as good and in some rare cases better than the "star".

Anyway, show began and as soon as Lewis came out of the clouds to start singing Any Dream Will Do I was totally smitten, he really is a very handsome young man and it is very hard to believe that he is only 18 years old and already appearing on the West End stage in a starring role as he is amazing and has come along in leaps and bounds since the early shows of ADWD.

The show was brilliant, the brothers were especially great, the narrator attractive and good voice but not as good as Vivienne's. Dean Collinson as the Pharaoh was excellent, good voice, great comic and does a marvellous song that I think was written especially for the new West End production and is obviously done in an Elvis style.

Lewis's singing is to be commended, he sings extremely well and has great melody to his voice and he carried the show really well, especially with his chest voice. Although his voice sounded a little tired at times probably due to nerves and newness to the role, he was still fantastic. His acting was very good and he was very assured on the stage, although he doesn't as yet, again probably due to his age have the ability to put as much sensitivity into the role as Craig does on the tour version and although Lewis doesn't put a foot wrong and is brilliantly cast as Joseph, (its a part he was born to play), he doesn't yet have the ability to put a little bit of himself into the role unlike Craig who plays the role with such a lot of heart.

It was lovely to see Lewis at the end for the megamix with "the coat" on as we got a chance to see a glimpse of the real him I felt and he comes across as a really nice person.

The scenery, costumes etc were fabulous, however I did feel as if I had gone back in time as they seemed to be exactly the same ones I had seen when I had watched the West End production of Joseph with both Jason Donovan and then Phillip Schofield playing Joseph back in the 1990's. Hubby especially appreciated a couple of the scenes where the ladies appeared (I shall say no more!!).

Lewis looked absolutely fab in the loincloth and my goodness, he is so tall, towered above lots of the other cast members and I'm loving the new hairstyle.

Hubby and I both enjoyed singing and dancing along to all the songs, although felt the audience could have been more appreciative, not sure if the lack of joining in was due to the fact that they were disappointed Lee wasn't in the starring role, that it was a Thursday night or some of them had booked the seats on a whim and hadn't really got a clue what to expect!!! Still we flew the flag for Joseph and really joined in and enjoyed ourselves.

I would have loved to have gone round to the stage door afterwards to speak to Lewis and tell him how well he had done and how thrilled I was for him but it was such a horrible night weather wise that hubby didn't want to stand around so I will try to get tickets for another time when Lee is on holiday and see Lewis then hopefully!!!

I do hope Lee is on the mend and feeling better - bless him but I had a fabulous time and would say to anyone who goes to see the show in London that Lewis can cut the mustard and really he can only get even better.

My only slight disappointment is that after seeing the show, I can't help thinking how much Craig could have given to a West End show and also how good he would look up there on that stage and in those costumes but I console myself with the thought that we are so lucky to be seeing him on tour and that in smaller theatres we can feel closer to him and he is able to feel closer to us and much more able to interact with the audience whereas in the West End they would be on a tighter timescale I would imagine so the closeness wouldn't happen.

Anyway, I've rambled on long enough, love to everyone,

Siouxsie xxx

I'm well made up and chuffed and to be perfectly honest I thought it was really good, better than I anticipated.
Craig was a real sweetie, charming and played his lead part very, very well I thought.
He was funny, sang very well and acted well enough for me, so I'm happy to have been there, at last I got to see Craig, it's along time to wait after seeing him for the very first time all those years ago on P.I.2 He's a lovely guy and I'm chuffed that his dream came true, he fully deserves the lead role.

Three curtain calls btw and the place - Sheffield Lyceum theatre (beautiful interior) was packed! Lots of smiling faces at the end, quite a lot of people including me and my lass did the standing ovation thing at the end, something that I wouldn't do if I didn't enjoy!

Bless Craig, as I said before, he's a lovely guy, truly he is

I reckon they'll still be running scared on the Monday. Especially when they realise we're all hiding in with the scenery
