Multi-region DVD

Please excuse my total lack of knowledge here

Can someone tell me how I can either tell if my dvd player is multi-region or how can i make it multi-region?

Any decent web sites to go on for more info?

You wont find any remote hacks for the Sony machines.

Try here for a special remote/upgrade disc for them.

There should be a hack for the Philips on the websites ,however if its the same one that has always worked on all Philips equipment you should be aware than it wont enable playback of region 1 discs with RCE which means that some Sony/Columbia and Warner titles may be a problem

The Sony ones posted on that site, some people get them to work other Don't, AS Nigel said different models im guessing.
