I was not sure where to place this question as it relates to analogue tech.
My friend has a Sony VCR with Video plus. Until a week ago it worked fine. But in the last week, when she enters a video plus number, the machine cant fill in the channel number. Although it can be entered manually using the remote control. The odd thing is, some times the machine does fill in the data, but more often than not, it fails to do so.
I have already turned it off and done a re-installation, but this has made no difference.
The machine is only used with normal analogue tv signals - as where they live, Freeview doesnt work at all.
Is there any other things I can try to correct this problem?
If this can not be fixed, I need to recommend a replacement machine. This leads to a further problem - they wont be able to go digital with Freeview until 2010, so they need an analogue or digital-analogue combination recorder. They dont want to spend too much money on analogue only equipment, as they only need it to last a little over 2 years (until Freeview goes on air in their town), which is when they will buy a digital Freeview recorder.
