Has Jon's Novelty Value Worn Off?
bystander
09-06-2003
I haven't heard very much lately about any more of Jon's scatterbrain ideas, or in fact new Jonisms.
I have heard about a petulant little hitler though.
Is the honeymoon over for Jon ?
Has the novelty factor worn off?

Not a chance, Jedi Knights and Hobbits are a faithful bunch, they'll make sure he safe... If he is nominated again.

The novelty might be wearing off for us intellectual types but the teenies seem to catching on to him

Think of him as the Beatles in reverse

Starts off as Sargeant Pepper

Now he's Revolver

Pretty soon he'll be Help

But never A Hard Day's Night ...if his lack of sex appeal is as real as he says......

Sorry, I'm leaving, even I think that's totally unfunny.

Jon may be showing feet of clay but with Sissy and Nush self destructing on screen plus Fed's total ineptitude I think he's safe for another week.

Actually the best thing for the other HMs would be for Jon not to be nominated as it will reduce the focus on the Ticklemeister

Not a chance !! Jon deserves to stay in the house above any of them.

Since I was never amused by Jon, I have no idea whether the novelty is wearing off, but a good guage of his public popularity should be how the papers deal with him if he is nominated this week.

If they continue to (albeit backhandedly, and with ridicule) support him, that will indicate that their readership appreciated their previous coverage, and therefore, show that he could still be in the house a good while yet.

If they don't, then I guess maybe his star will have peaked too early.

Actually, thinking about it, since when was it novel to spout anecdotes about star wars sagas and generally be a bore who thought he was a genius? Teenage boys have been doing that for the last 20 years!!!

Dunno if Jon's novelty has worn off, but after seeing the eviction show (and particularly the other HM's reaction to it), I cannot help but feel that Jon would be better out of the house - for his sake.

He may be incredibly popular outside the house (and I voted to evict Justine last week as much as anyone), but in the house he seems to be as popular as a fart in a stormtrooper uniform..
..and that's gotta be tough to live with. His face on Friday night showed the realisation of just how unpopular he is (and Sissy's outburst cannot have helped) and I think it is beginning to bother him (hence him getting short with the other HM's over the new task).

As much as I'd like him to stay (and that's not just because I have Jon in a BB sweepstake at work), I think in order to give the guy a break, he should get out of the house this week, because I don't see him changing just to appease the others..

Just my $0.02

Hasn't worn off for me... Because I actually quite like the guy as well.

Once again (and it's getting annoying now)... The reason he spoke about Star Wars was because he was asked to. You'll notice he hasn't for at least a week now, and that's because he hasn't got Gos wanting to know every little plot anymore.

I want him to stay because without him there's nothing in that house. The girls conversation was more interesting last night than the boys... Why? Because they were bitching as usual... About who? Jon as usual.

He doesn't think he's more intelligent than the others, it's the others who know they're less intelligent than him and can't handle that. Neither Nush or Steph were even willing to consider his suggestion of how things should be done, and that's what he was pissed off with. They didn't even give it a moments thought.

I've pretty much convinced myself he's going this week, because the fact is, someone a bit quirky can never win this show (the British public are too bland). The bores win again I guess.

Jeez, does this mean that it's time for me to start supporting Jon again?

A week is a long time in the BB house

The only person who called Jon a 'Little Hitler' was Sissy and she wasn't only referring to Jon. She was referring to all the people who wanted to take charge of the task and sort out how they were going to approach it. I don't think the word petulant was used. I never heard it, but she has no grounds to talk about other people being petulant anyway. Her displays after Justine was announced at the evictee and when she wasn't one of the people allowed into the secret room were fantastic displays of childish petulance!

Spot on with both those paragraphs.
What I find amusing too is the pathetic-ness of the assaults made on his character by assorted inmates. What would be very funny and entertaining would be for Jon to verbally lay into each of them one by one. 'Course he wouldn't for many reasons, but I imagine the accuracy and cutting of his observations would be timelss.

In answer to the original. It is not waring and it never was novel. I have always found the stupdity and lack of common sense among housemates the novel factor. It has always been a bit of a freak show in my eyes and Jon is one of the first non-freaks in there.

i'm not too fussed about jon and his "jonisms". I'd just like to see him really get on the HM's nerve (even more than he's currently doing), then get nominated every week and win the vote every week.

One by one the other HM's faces would drop, like Justine's did on Friday. It'd be great.
