Hi,

I am considering purchasing a new TV and like the look of the Panasonic PX70 37inch Plasma. The reviews I have read say it is great, but also state that it doesn't have an S-video in socket. My Pioneer DVD system outputs in s-video at the moment, and I connect to my panasonic CRT using a scart lead. Does anyone know if the scart sockets on the Panasonic PX70 plasma are s-video compatible?

Does your Pioneer system output RGB at all. You would be better off connecting through RGB scart than S-video.

I have a PX70 42" and I am fairly sure that AV2 (scart) can handle RGB, Video and S-Video. I also had a Panny CRT and used AV2S scart on that on as you describe.

Rgds,
Scorp

ps it's a superb TV especially driven by Sky HD as this upscales the SD broadcasts

Thanks for the responses.

1. No, unfortunatley my DVD doesn't output RGB. Only composite video and S-video.

2. I tried to look at the instructions on the web, but for some reason the links didn't seem to work.

3. Will probably buy one soon. Just need to justify spending the money.

Thanks.

To get the most out of the Pan plasma then it may be worth upgrading your DVD player to at least one that has component (progressive) sockets or even HDMI.

You should be able to get one for under £100.

Using S-video on a Pan PX70 is like putting cheap engine oil (from Wilkinsons) in a Ferrari.

You can get the 42PX70 for only £699 from Richer Sounds.
Or £769 with a 3 yr warranty...

Great price - but do you need to add in the cost of the pedestal (£90ish I think)?
