Can I get Tiscali TV?

Are there a newer list (than Samknows) somewhere?

Of the 19 Tiscali LLU enabled exchanges in my county, 18 are TTV enabled. Mine is the one that was left out

6 exchanges were LLU enabled in 2006 (including mine), others were enabled in 2007

Called Tiscali today, was told it will be active sometime in the next 6 month:sleep:

Just for the record the best way to find out if you can get Tiscali tv would be to call the sales line : 0800 107 9000
who will be able to give you the definitive answer,
More to the point Sam Knows is a public run data base there
for data on this site is not all true.

1.Called that number 15th Feb, told it will be enabled sometime in the next 6 month.
2.Posted on Tiscali forum on 15th, got reply on 18th Feb saying it is enabled.
3.Samknows said it was enabled on 7th March, appeared on My Accounts area on 10th or thereabouts of March.

However, some people just like to browse what options are available before calling sales lines and possibly getting pressured into getting something before they've checked out all the options.

I think the idea is to call them to check if TTV is coming to the exchange in the near future, and join online. Less mistakes/misunderstandings that way

I've posted over at Tiscali TV's forum about if I can get the TV service.

The online check and over the phone says that I cant but, samknows says the portishead exchange is enabled, and digital uk says its avaliable!

Do Tiscali update their database when the exchange is enabled, or do they wait or some interest?

Any help would be great.

Subscribed to all the Tiscali services three weeks ago. Phone, Broadband and TV. Did this all online. Entered my telephone number and it said I was able to have all their services. I selected the package I wanted with all the sports and movie channels. Paid off BT to cancel my BT Broadband service with them. Then Tiscali turn up at my my place the other day to do the install and this is when everything got turned upside down. The router could not sync correctly for the IPTV service. Turns out my number cannot have the service due to the broadband speeds being to low. Thing is i'm about 2km from my exchange in south east London and can only get 2.5mb with Tiscali. Actually got 3mb with BT!! But I am furious that I was misinformed by Tiscali when ordering their TV services. Anyone experienced this with them?

sounds about right for Tiscali.... i have put up with their terrible customer service & billing and even defended them in the past.... but since they've now cancelled my account by mistake and asked me to signup again i'm furious!

True, but when you sign up a number check is performed to gauge your line speeds so that if your line cannot support the services, they should reject the order. It maybe that the data being fed back is bad or that your line can support the services but there is something else that is causing a bad service i.e. local wiring. I had a really poor BB service recently and after reterminating the BT connectors in my house have not even so much as experienced a single loss of connection in 3-4 months!

I tried to get tiscali recently, I only wnat it to get sky sports and they told me I had to have a 12 month contract with them before they would be able to tell me whether I could get the TV service!?

I explained I only wanted the TV service but they said they couldn't tell me!?

I can't get sky pesky conservation area tree hugging locals and virgin don't come down my street.

BT said I had adsl connection up to 6mg ish, would tiscali tv work over this type of connection.

someone please help, is there any other way of getting sky sports from another provider if tiscali can;t get me tv?

Go to the website and select which package you want. Enter your number and the checker will tell you whether you can have the service or not.

Methinks Tiscali needs to be taken to task by the ASA for advertising what they can't provide. It's ludicrous that their website provides NO way of finding out if you can get the (ex-HomeChoice) TV service other than actually trying to order it!

I am reporting them to OFCOM. I have been asking to be upgraded to Extra entertainment mix since the beginning of August. They just cant seem to get their act together. The customer services are useless. I just cant wait to get out of the 12 month contract. I am going to BT.
I dont know why anyone should want to have Tiscali TV.

It's really sad how innovative companies get swallowed up by much bigger corporates, then the management bureaucracy in the new parent seems to totally kill off all that was good in the company they paid a fortune to acquire....

Home Choice was a bright, responsive outfit, doing pretty well, albeit undercapitalised. Sorry to see that Tiscali seems to have destroyed much of its spark.
