Im going to be brave and be one of the first to say i like Ian Beale. Everyone says he is an idiot. Why because he is a bit snobbish? Well would'nt you if you lived in a community of animals. Because he does'nt like phil mitchell, because he does'nt follow the the crowd like sheep? Because he has standards? He has given so many good scenes over the years and his character should be respected. He is not the type of person i would usually like but for some reason i do. I believe the character and actor is underrated. so anyone who likes him aswell make your feelings known.

I love the Beale family. Now they are a proper family. Reason they are so good is because they took a natural shape and we watched them develope.

Adam W has always been very underated. He is one of the most loyal and committed cast members EastEnders have.

Lucy and Peter are the future of EastEnders.

I agree. Great character, and now the Beale kids are old enough to get their own storylines I think they gaining added strength!!

Ian is an integral cog in the EastEnders machine and it wouldn't be the same without him. I just hope Jane stays around!!

Yes it would be nice if Ian and jane do stick together. I think they should leave the days of Ian having disasterous relationships with women and concentrate on his relationships with his kids.

The Beales, Ian included, are the thing I find best about EE right now. They're the main reason I'm bothering to watch at the moment. The storyline with Lucy and Craig and Ian struggling to cope with a terror teenager is great and is so well acted by all invovled. I'm looking immensly forward to more storylines with them in the future.

I hope Ian and Jane never split up for good. I know it's Walford but they just work so fantastically together.

I like the Beales. Lucy's " you and your mini me" comment the other night was great

I think Ian and Jane are fantastic characters, and Adam and Laurie who play them are brilliant. Ian's been my favourite since I first started watching in 1999 and that's never changed and he has a brilliant chemistry with Jane and I hope EE never lose that winning combination.

Ian is a complex character, and viewers have watched him grow up, and his family grow up around him and that's a uniqute thing, which only adds to the Beales' value on the show.

You have my total agreement with this appreciation thread. Thanks for starting it!

I'm glad that the whole Jane/Grant thing wasn't blown out of all proportion - and here's hoping that they stay happily married with neither having further affairs!!

Ian is one of the most complex characters in the show, and Adam Woodyatt plays him brilliantly.

I loved Ian's relationship with Jane right from the start, even though I'm not usually fussed about soap romances. I hope this is one wife Ian will manage to keep hold of.

I'm a big fan of Ian. I think that the character was in danger of becoming one-dimensional a few years ago, but the introduction of Jane has worked wonders. The pair have such chemistry and she has added an element of fun to Ian.

I was shocked to see someone say in yesterday's episode thread that they find the Beales boring! I think that they're the least boring family in EE.

EDIT: I forgot to say that Adam Woodyat is brilliant in the emotional scenes - such as when he found out that Kathy had died.

I think Ian Beale is the best thing about EE. One thing EE lacks these days is characters with a long history in the show. There aren't enough of them left and I think they need to ensure they hang on to characters like Ian. A bit of longevity never goes amiss IMO.

Hooray! I'm amongst friends!
I've always had a soft spot for the character of Ian Beale. He's totally uncool and a bit of a twit, but his tigerish devotion to giving his children a decent start in life and his tiggerish refusal to lie down when life has beaten him make him quietly admirable in my book.
I do hope the writers will let him have a bit of happy ever after as he approaches middle age.

Agree with your comments - I really hope that if one of the family wants to leave they actually write the lot of them out rather than having another messy divorce or death.

Am loving the girl who plays Lucy at the moment, great little actress!

Ian is a brilliant character. Unlike other characters, he is always interesting to watch and has fab storylines. Most characters have a shielf life but he doesn´t. The storyline with Lucy is yet another storyline he can be added too. Adam is a great actor and Ian is so funny '- him and Jane are great together - a great comedy pairing

Why do you have to be brave. Ian Beale is one of Eastenders' greatest characters and the actor is fantastic. Adam Woodyat IS Ian Beale. He is involved in some of the soap's best plots and he can go from comedy to drama within minutes. His character is so versitile and along with Jane they make a great couple.

He is my favourite Eastenders character

Ian Beale is a legend and Adam has done a brilliant job at making the character what he is today. Adam is such a talented actor and makes his portrayal of Ian Beale, in whatever circumstances, believable.

The Beale family are just the best in my eye's, they have such natural chemistry and that goes double for Ian and Jane. Since Jane's arrival in the square there has been a special on-screen chemistry that not many on-screen partnerships have. Adam, Laurie, Melissa, Tom and the little lad that plays Bobby make the Beale's and long may they remain in the Square. No more affairs, it's not needed to spice up this family because they have so much potential and are versatile enough to be given proper storylines as we're seeing now.

Ian and Lucy are two of my favourite characters on EastEnders. I like Jane. Apart from the silly affair with Grant, she grounds Ian, and has been good for him and the children.

I'm also amongst friends! I love Ian and always have. Its like the thing you never admit to! I have always loved Adam as an actor.

Now the Twins are older its great because they are being used as a proper family unit. Lucy and Peter are the future of the show as pointed out.

Now all we need is Steven back. Bring in some hot eye candy!!

Oh and I love Jane and I can't forget little Bobby and his princess outfits!!! lol

I also think Ian is good.

I loved Peter last night giving Lucy "financial advice" - just like his dad!

Anyone else think Lucy looks like the singer Dido??
