When i am playing dvd's the sync is out by a second or so, i am using component leads on the dvd & wondered if they were anything to do with it & would i be better off using a scart ?

Thanks,
Steve

Component only carries the video signals, how are you sourcing the audio?

Are you using a sound system?

Maybe you do, but that's not what Tommy asked. How are you getting the audio from the DVD player to your TV? Or are you only listening via the 5.1 DVD player/surround sound combo thing?

What you are probably seeing is the 5.1 DVD player delivering the sound milliseconds before the TV can display the correct frame of video.

This could be down to splitting the video and audio signals as you are using component for the video and the player for the audio.

It could also be down to the display you are using. Plasma and LCD have a tendency to sometimes take a fraction of a second longer to process the video signal.

What display are you using?

Not familiar with the 5.1 system you have, does it have an audio delay feature? This allows you to delay the audio therefore correcting the error.

Hi,

This is the dvd player although not sure if this gives a clue about a delay on the sound ?

Just grabbed the online user manual, doesn't look like it has audio delay.

Just has the basic speaker delay and levels settings.

Have left the manual for you to double check.

I don't really see how you are going to solve the issue myself without adjusting the audio delay manually.

I suppose you could try the scart connection, personally I don't think it will help, but you never know. Just make sure you disconnect the component cable first. Set scart to RGB to ensure you get the best possible picture quality from this connection.
