Be 'Be'Box' VoIP

Not got broadband yet, but will hopefully be going with Be.

I notice their wireless router they provide has a port for VoIP. Does anyone know about this?

Can I plug a regular PTSN phone into it and (with the help of a voip service) make calls through it? Or do i have the wrong idea about its feature?

Meant to be for "future use" but no signs of any products yet...

Its a Speedtouch modem, probably the 780WL, in which case it does support VOIP. If its anything like the prvious model (716WL) then it will only support one provider at a time.

You should be able to plug a Standard phone into it and dial either via the fixed line or voip. You normally have one line as the default line(pstn or voip) and the other can be accessed by dialing a prefix code which you create when setting it up.

I have a Speedtouch modem which is exactly the same as a bebox. Infact I actually bought the Speedtouch router after seeing a friend's bebox.

*My 780WL only supports one voip account.

Ah but Be probably use a custom firmware for their routers, much like Sky, so the port could be disabled in firmware. Need someone who actually has a BE account to have a look in their router pages.

Yes Bebox has their own firmware but it is still based on the the original software used on the standard 780WL. I have seen my friend's router interface. It has almost or if not all the same features but there are slight differences like icons, layout of the interface.
