Your asking a little too much i think for free.

Normally though, you get something like 30 messages a month or even week.

and normally sends through your number.

or you could go the VoIP route.
They are only cheap. You can display your own number or any other number once you confim it by a text message code.

7 pence !!!

I want free, not 7 pence ! I can buy bundles that give it to me from the network for 7p.

What about using GPRS / 3G data to send them, does anyone know who offers that?

Sorry to be a pain, just looking for a cheap texting method for when I go over my 100 messages a month, poor at the moment because of work changes and 8 weeks without work, don't really wanna go spending a lot, but want to text people.

People annoy me because they always text instead of call and when you reply they ask another question and before you know it you've sent 10, which would be a pound on my network out of allowance.

Yeah, if you accept the fact that you might get one or two delivered out of several hundred. Not worth the effort, dreadful service.

VoIPBuster.com, VoIPStunt.com, VoIPDiscount.com or many of the other Betamax VoIP services for approx 0.8p per SMS.

These allow you to set it up so you can choose where the SMS appears to come from.

Hey?

What you on about?

That's 0.8p per text to UK mobiles / landlines and cheaper to some other countries. That's the point - send SMS texts for less than 1p each, yes not free but less than 1p each is pretty good and you can make the SMS appear like it's coming from either your mobile or land line.

I don't understand what your comment is about ??

Oh I thought that was 8p

0.8p is great! The catch is the credit expiring, but the best I've seen so far..

Credit doesn't actually expire.

You get 120 free days for VoIP calls to certain landlines with each €10 top-up once the free days are up you simply pay for calls out of the credit, unless you want more free days then you top-up again.

If all you are going to use the service for is SMS texting then the credit will remain until you've used it all up with texting. If it takes you 1 year to use up the credit then it takes you a year. You don't lose the credit once the free calling days are up.

I already had a sipdiscount account so I log in to there, I cannot send texts with a reply to my number though.

It says on the site that I should use the sipdiscount client to send SMS if I want to be able to sent it from a number on my profile, but I can't find a Sipdiscount client anywhere, the voipstunt one won't let me login with sipdiscount details aghhh!!

Oh and the texts take like 20 minutes to reach my phone and are coming off at 5euro

Oh and they don't have any customer service.

Mine get through within seconds.

Yeah, SipDiscount have higher rates for SMS texts for the UK - 4.1p

You have to check the rates on the various Betamax products, each one is usually slightly different.

Customer service costs way too much, they wouldn't then be able to offer such good rates etc.

However you can ask over on their forum: https://forum.voipbuster.com

Would'nt even mind the 20 minute delay, but when the text arrives it's not displaying my number despite the profile being updated and it say's use the software, which doesn't exist.

You could excuse no CS if they actually got it right. Why tell you on the website to use software that doesn't exist.

Well dont use that, Use the cheap ones linked my TheFirstCut.
The only problem is, if you have already topped up.

Make new details and login.

Topup,
go to the sms and in the 'My Phone Number' put in yours +447........

Then to the number you are sending to and then your message.

When you click send, it will ask you to confirm its your number and send a sms to your phone, You enter the code in your sms and thats it. From now on, you will send messages and it will come through as if they were sent from your phone, you will get replies to your phone aswel.

Yeah, I think they are just copying the text from their other websites, as SIPDiscount was set up for you to just use your own SIP device or software.

With the other services where they do offer their software, in the program you enter your land line and / or mobile number to verify - with land line it calls you - with mobile it texts you, you then respond with the activation code and can then use that number as the displayed number.

Done it, it still sends from the profile name, I need the app that doesn't exist !

I've been using sip discount for 2 or more years for VIOP.

I found a text message service that says it free till you send the message, then they charge the recipiant £5 to get the message.

I only found this out after sending a text, just emailed them calling them money grabbing B*****DS.

There must be some more free ones!
