Tip for anyone with a GPRS tariff....

For anyone with a GPRS phone but sends a lot of text messages heres a tip.
Go to your message options switch the SMS bearer from your message centre number to use GPRS.
you wont be charged for any messages as it will part of the GPRS bundle(whether you subscibe to 1MB,1.5 MB, or 2MB)

Nokia 6310i Settings

Messages>Message Settings>Sending Profile>Default>Use GPRS select Yes

The only catch is it will take longer to send it

Well it works.... but it takes about a minute to send.

Do they bill you for it? I get free texts, so I wouldn't know if I have been billed...

Andy, what settings did you choose? I got a 7650, so the OS is practically the same, i went into messages, options, short messages, message center...but i can only add numbers (telephone) not IP's for the GPRS gateway, or tell it to use GPRS.

On my 3650 I went into Messaging> Options> Settings> Text Message> Preferred Connection and then changed it to GPRS

It sends the message, but I didn't notice any slow down.

Now just have to wait a month to see how it's billed

I did exactly the same as SonyJunkie.

On mine it likes to sit in the outbox for about a minute before disappearing.

One thing that makes me thing it's still charing is the fact it displays my balance after sending...

I'll try it on my girlfriend's 3510i later and see if it charges...
