Its a CBBC show 25 minutes is the norm for CBBC drama has been since the dawn of time. Also its easier for them to sell abroad in that format.

I think that is the general format, ten shows - five two-part adventures.

BBC childrens programming is often "below the radar" of the commercially minded executives that run BBC nowadays.

It's often truer to a public service tradition than "adult" programming which has become very explotitive/hyped of late.

I for one will be watching and hoping for good story-telling and believable characters.

I think we all need to remember that this is no "Dr Who" family program, but one specifically aimed at kids- nothing wrong in that at all, but I can see a lot of dissapointed people expecting it to be aimed at an older audience than it actually is

woooo! DW is back! Well sort of... I am very much looking forward to this, I hink the Slitheen will work well as a childrens monster!

The pilot, although firmly aimed at kids, appealed to a broad audience as well I think.

tbh i thought it didn't play well to an older audience. It is possible to write for an audience of kids and adults (J K Rowling) but its difficult. The pilot really didnt do a great deal for the older viewer , and i would suggest mid teen up. I would love to like this, but unless much improved i think this is strictly for the younger Who fan

Is 'Invasion Of The Bane' not getting a repeat then? I thought it was widely reported that they'd show it again before the series proper began.

Nothing obvious in the schedules AFAICT. It was repeated a few months back so you may have to use the 't-word' to get to see it before the new stuff comes on...

who are the Slitheen taking revenge on? surely it would have to be The Doctor and not SJS. I thought the family Slitheen were wiped out, with the exception of Margaret, in WW3? Didn't Margaret say in Boomtown that she was the only family member to survive.

Oh I have it recorded from when it was first on, just surprised that they're not showing it as episode 1 of the series.

The only survivor of the ones who came to Earth possibly, there could be other branches of the family still out there.

I'm sure Margaret Slitheen said in Boomtown that she was the only one left but I would have to watch one of my least favourite episodes again to check.

Well they certainly didn't work for me in Doctor Who. I'm sure the kids will like them more.

I thought that Margret said that there were hundreds of the family Slitheen out in the stars, scattered everywhere, and she wanted the Doctor to take her to one of them instead of back to Rexocoricophalapatorious (whatever ) where she would face the death penalty.

Nope, she said that there were other members of her family out in the Universe and asked the Doctor to return her to them rather than Raxacoricofallapatorius where she would be executed.

As to who the family would want revenge on.

All they would really know is that Margaret and the others went to Earth and are MIA. Arriving on Earth they could probably find out that the Family died in the explosion of 10 Downing Street but I doubt they would know the Doctors role in it.

There's only one way I can think of that they could know the whole story.

And that is if the
Spoiler
young Slitheen seen in the preview pic is actually Margaret who somehow retained her memories and managed to leave Raxacoricofallapatorius and join up with the rest of the family.

”

thanks to you both for correcting my rather hazy memory of AoL/WW3/Boomtown which I most probably blotted most of it out as a bad dream.........

Lol BG! Another alternative is that the Powers That Be have started using "Slitheen" as a euphemism for the entire species, y'know, like how we say hoover when really it's a vacuum cleaner and Hoover is just one brand. That's the kind of sloppiness I'd expect!
