Just worked for me & I've also tried for Dec - worth a bash.
Tbh I'd rather have a fair go at it that way than be hanging on the phone for hours in two weeks, which is what I was expecting.

I think it's pretty fair, and I'm not sure why everyone is getting their knickers in a knot. In fact, the only ones that seem cross are the ones that went on more than one occation last year.

At least everyone has the same chance.”

Actually that's not strictly true. excuse the pun. Last year we got told that we had tickets that okay don't guarantee entry, but still we had them. We were able to make definite arrangements that night. If I wanted to go the first week, then I would only have sth like 16 days to make travelling arrangements and hotel plans.

I am not getting my knickers in a knot, I only went the once last year anyway. I wouldn't bother applying ordinarily, but my sister was living in Germany last year and I'd really like to take her

I get that you can only be successful once, so do you therefore apply for all the dates that you could go, or pick only one?”

I'm still not sure about one application per person, surely it would be one per address.

I was hoping they would change the system to this to make it fairer but now I'm thinking I would have had more chance continually pressing the redial button for 4 hours, as opposed to this lottery

yeah, but what about those of us who can't - i work in a hospital, although I did consider taking the day off. Hearing about people spending 4 hours pressing re-dial while at work did p*** me off last year (as I couldn't).

This has got to be the most fair system so far, all they then need to work out is a sensible system of garenteeing entry, ie not issuing so many excess tickets.

I knew I would get this reply.
Which is exactly why I acknowledged I thought this system would be fairer but I said phoning in I would stand more chance!

I know it said only one application would be considered but I couldn't resist doing a second one. I do think getting a ticket should mean guaranteed entry. I know the tickets are free but the BBC gets paid and we are licence fee payers so it isn't free at all.

Did anyone get a ticket last year but not actually get in?

I got through, but I was never told I had tickets, just that I was on the list for the date I requested. Tix are never certain until they drop through your letterbox.

Maybe you were told different, but that's not usually the case. They're always pretty cagey.

Me too, and I thought I hadn't got any but they finally arrived two days before the programme so I probably got some that someone else couldn't use. They did make it very clear that I was "on the list" but nothing was guaranteed until the tickets actually arrived in the post.

This system is much fairer IMHO.

I understand but we definitely got told we had the tickets that day, we even asked again to make sure . We even got our tickets two weeks before

Did anyone who applied online get an e-mail confirmation? It asked for e-mail address. Bit worried my application didn't work.

I didn't, they ask for the e-mail address, because it's there or by phone when they'll determine whether or not you have been successful in the ballot.

Liked this system much better and will be good if it lets lots more people go once as opposed to a few going lots! (tho obviously there will always be a lot of 'celebs' each week. I know Bruce had 4 tickets per week one series so guess that will apply to each contestant too)
If tickets are all allocated before the end of Sept it also allows those of us from outside the M25 to make travel arrangements while the cheaper train fares are available.

Have applied for 1st December as I'm already in London that weekend to see Barbara Cook on the Sunday (and my train down is already booked for the Friday evening)

Would have taken the morning off to phone but this is so much more civilized!

And also how they'll send you messages about other shows you couldn't give a monkeys about...

What ward are you on? Swaping shifts with colleagues is useful. And saying to a fellow poster " I hope you are never on my ward" is not professional.

Noticed that there is no option to apply for tickets for the 17th November... is the show having a week off that week ?

No. It's likely to be the day after CIN. CIN uses the large studio, and SCD gets bumped to a much smaller one, meaning less audience space. There is probably only room for production guests.

Have applied for the final as it's one Sat I'd be able to manage.

No real expectations but at least everybody has a chance this time.

Oh lord Are you completely stupid? As for never being on your ward (yes, extremely unprofessional)...but I'll count my blessings and be grateful that I am not on your ward. I'll send out my sympathies to anyone who does have the misfortune to be seen to by you.

Does anyone know for sure whether it is one application per address or per person? Surely the latter would not make sense as you could apply for every member of your family including the cat and goldfish?

That's exactly what I want to know! I want to balance the risk of not getting in against all the expense of travel & hotel (if I do manage to get tickets!)

Anyone have any queuing info??
VikkiKaplinsky

Queuing info? I just got there at 10am so I was first in the queue and that there was no question I was getting in!

I don't know anyone personally who hasn't got in after queueing but I know it's happened ... and caused a lot of upset. I don't think I'd ever get over it if it'd happened to me.

10am? Not really possible from where I'm travelling. What's the latest time you could get away with joining the queue do you think? Do they tell you any of this information if/when you get tickets?

It's crazy really that people might travel from somewhere even further than me and still not get in... To be honest I'd rather they charged for tickets and then guaranteed entry.

Well, I don't know where you live but I live in Exeter, I get the 5am coach from exeter to London ... I have a long way to travel too but I don't let anything stop me.

Latest time I would say is about 3pm? Depends when they're letting you in, but I'd say a good two hours before admission.

And no, they don't give you any information.

xxxxxx
