How do I decide which 32" LCD
Hi Guy's,
Just got the HD Box but not the HD TV just yet! I've got a shortlist of 3 but have no idea which one is best. Panasonic TX-32LXD700 (The best in the What HIFI Supertest) Sony KDL-32D3000 (The best according to http://www.hdtvorg.co.uk/) Also the Philips 32-PFL9632D/10 which I can't find any reviews on. If you own any of the above what made your mind up? I'm only very picky on 2 things so want the best picture, and no blurring say on fast moving programs like movies and football. Thanks for any feedback in advance. |

If it has to be 32" then the Panasonic.....but I'd go for a min 42" to get the full benefit of HD

The best thing to do is find shops with those models and go to look at them, then pick the one with the picture you like. Most stores will connect a dvd player to a set to test so take a DVD you own and know what the pic quality is like and test it.
Before I bought my set I watched it in store for over an hour with various DVD's I took with me and played with all the settings and menu's. You can only go so far reading reviews based on someone else's opinion, in the end it's up to you. |

I have the Philips 32PFL9632D. The ambilight was a factor for me - I love the idea and feel it adds a lot to the experience!
Aside from that I love the set. There was a compatibility issue with SkyHD via HDMI which was fixed with a firmware update, but no other problems for me. As for size... I wouldn't want a 42" in the room I view in - way too big! |

He doesn't say how far he sits from the screen! It's even possible 32" would be too big though it probably isn't.

Unfortunetely I do have a small lounge so I sit about 6ft away from the screen. Anymore than a 32" and I reckon it would be too full on. It looks like I'm going for the Panny, so hopefully John Lewis will get some stock in soon, before anything else new comes out to make me change my mind.

I wouldn't say "unfortunately", you are in the fortunate position that you can buy a better TV for the same money (or save money) as you can get a smaller one than someone who sits further away. Okay you might like a larger lounge but from the TV point of view the smaller one is better.

Love that point of view!
![]() Are you by any chance an estate agent? ![]() When it came and she saw just how big it was she was not happy but luckily it now seems normal - we have a long lounge (if not a big one) with no opportunity for sitting closer (well I do but only for something special in HD because it's awkward). I also have it on an extending wallmount that brings it 2' forward for HD which makes some difference though 4' would be better. |

Brought the sony a fortnight ago primarily for my xbox as is my only hd source and I am really amazed . Was just about to buy a cheaper bravia (-£150) but this just really stood out in the shop. Cost £700 from Curries

If you are going for a 32 then its the panasonic , we have the older version the 32lxdA and its fanstanic , we sit at the most 8 feet away and nearest 3 ft away with no problems ( would like a 50 inch panny but its too big see last post on buy a 50 panny).
The panasonc 70 has 3 hdmi so thats future proof for you ,and it has freeview , this set is sweet with HD and dvd , well worth the money. Andrew |
