Thank god, maybe I will start enjoying it now I don't have to watch the horrible man, I was disgusted with him tonight.

Belligerent, dislikeable, charmless, obnoxious piece of crap wasnt he?

I think he wanted some work in the UK off the back of this programme. Don't hold your breath Jim

I think we should go along and throw dog turds.

I shouldve added to my last post that Jim wanted a TV show off the back of his appearance on Hells Kitchen. So, again, don't hold yer breath Davidson. You keep slogging round the country playing to dwindling audiences

Im so glad he was actually chucked off the programme, rather than being allowed to walk.

One of those Spring dates is in my home town! I wonder how many dog turds I could collect between now and then?!

I dunno, but I'll pop round with a bin bag and we'll start collecting them, and filling it !

Incidentally, did anyone hear Jim say tonight, "I don't have many friends. I'm a bit of a loner really...."

Wonder why that is Jim?

I was going to offer to save the output from my dogs, (I am so generous ) then I realised how out of date his website is, they were Spring/Summer 2007.

The problem with Alf Garnett was he was supposed to be the comic relief, the joke character in Til' Death Us Do Part and In Sickness And In Health, and he ended up becoming the star. And when the kids started repeating the act on the playground, that was when there was a problem. At least those comedies were written in a manner which cast him as an odious man.

Comedians like Bernard Manning and Jim make the minority groups the target for humour, which is different entirely. Glad Jim is exposed for what he is.

Or get a boy scout to shout abuse at him, when he's next in Panto (see relevant thread in Showbiz, I think!!!) LOL!

Or maybe not; it's naughty to encourage kids to swear!

Edit: Darn, I think the 'relevant thread' has been locked or deleted!

Edit # 2: Soreeee, it's in GD!

:coughs nervously"

Sets can of worms on counter (notes that the label says 'with added psychobabble')....

Produces tin opener...

Asks:

Could Jim Davidson have a diagnosable personality disorder?

Hides...

One (or several) personality disorders might explain his apparent inability to understand why others are so upset and offended by what he says.

Of course, he might simply see himself as the champion and saviour of that repressed minority, the middle-aged white 'heterosexual' male. (The same minority which still has most of the power in this country ).

He might think that the whole country is cheering him on.

All of which brings me back to wondering if he might have some diagnosable personality disorder...

So many to choose from!

As far as I am concerned, Jim Davidson and Brian Dowling are as bad as each other. Can't stand either of them.

In response to your post, I've just lugged out my 'Abnormal Psychology' textbook, LOL!

DSM IV, Axis II definition:

Summary

Cluster A: Eccentric/Odd
-Paranoid (pervasively suspicious of others & motives)
-Schizoid (aloof, constricted)
-Schizotypal (peculiarities of thought and behaviour)

Cluster B: Dramatic/erratic
-Histrionic (overemotional, attention-seeking)
-Borderline (profound disturbance of affect and identity)
-Narcissistic (grandiosity, inflated sense of self-importance)
-Antisocial (pervasive disregard for rights of others, lack of conformity to social norms & legal standards)

Cluster C: Anxious/ fearful
-Obsessive-compulsive (preoccupation with perfectionism, orderliness, control over self & others, rigidity)
-Avoidant (social discomfort & fear of negative social evaluation)
-Dependent (pervasive patterns of dependent and submissive behaviour)

Hmmmm, where to begin..................

Oooooh!

A veritable smorgasbord of psychological possibilities!!

I'm a little embarrassed now.

I was only going to bring three possibilities to the table:

- narcissistic personality disorder
- borderline personality disorder
- sociopath

But, I fully agree with the list of ingredients you have suggested, and accept that they provide a more nuanced, and plausible, recipe to explain what has been happening!

Of course, if my midnight-plus musings should prove to have any truth to them...

We would have to recognise that a person diagnosed with these kinds of personality disorders should perhaps be judged on different terms to - say - a 'white, heterosexual normal person' (sic).

We would also have to consider the advantages/disadvantages of such a person being exposed to public view (and/or trying to mould it)
