Women should act as ladies.

Today we have girls swearing every other word.
Drinking out of bottles.
Getting smashed out of their skulls etc.

Did anyone laugh last night when Marco went into the Red kitchen (Adele, Abi and Brian) and said "girls, girls" and Brian turned around and started laughing saying he always turned around when people said girls, he said he was used to it as he had 6 sisters.

Marco then must have realised what he said and held his hands up and started apologising saying, "I'm sorry, and boys".

Both he and Brian were laughing about it. I wonder if Brian would have laughed if it had been JD who had said it, or would he have made more of it.

Why would Marco apologise, he was right the first time.

I think you are just trying to be controversial Mr McEnroe ...lol

I thought it was really funny, as soon as Marco realised what he had said he must have thought "oh no, I'll be hauled in front of the producers" - I liked the way they all started to laugh about it.

I think the intent behind the comment is what's important. Whether or not offense is taken is due to many factors; the intent behind the words, along with the tone of voice and body language. JD and Marco are two different people, what they say and how they say it can be interpreted differently, even if, in some cases, the actual words used are indentical.

I totally agree with you. It was a genuine mistake by Marco to just say "girls", just his face when he realised what he had said. It was so nice to see him laughing with them all last night, on a few occasions they seemed to be having a bit of a joke around. The atmosphere in the kitchen certainly seems to be more relaxed.

I thought it was hilarious, and yes, I agree, the atmosphere seems much better.

Of course he would, mega tears etc.
Btw Marco inferred Dowling was a girl.....homophobic comment?...Only when he sees fit.
Nobody in the world is perfect, the old chestnut about sticks and stones is true here, but another one is true too, the emptiest vessels make the most noise.....

When I made the original post about this I was kind of playing Devils Advocate.

I think in this case Marco's comment was a genuine mistake, I think he would have said it even if it were Paul or Barry in with Adele and Abi rather than Brian ... and I think Brian realised that and that's why they laughed about it.

I could have cried all night!
I could have cried all night!
And still have begged for more.
I could have spread my wings
And done a thousand things I've never done before.
I'll never know What made it so exciting;
Why all at once My heart took flight. I only know when Jim
began to cry with me I could have cried,
cried, cried all night!

Brians song for X factor.

No of course he wouldn't all that proved is Brian has a SOH, Marco said it with no intention to offend, much different to JD.

Are you old fashioned and a chauvinist? Who can say.

But is not up to you as a man to decide what is appropriate behaviour for women: that is something for women to decide themselves.

Totally agree. It came across as a genuine mistake, something I think Marco would have said whichever male had happened to be on that team with their back towards him (thus making their gender less obvious). There are some things I'll take from a friend that I won't automatically take from someone I'm less acquainted with, & people with a hidden agenda (like Jim) have ways of getting their real meaning across even if they smile when they say the words. If Jim had said it at the very beginning of the show, Brian would have probably laughed, but a week or more after having put up with Jim's previous digs I wouldn't have blamed Brian for being more suspicious of why he'd said it, even if Brian didn't actually respond negatively to the comment.

Now Jim's gone, the show is more entertaining to watch. If that's the only plus from him being asked to leave, it's one worth having.

The difference being that JD deliberately tried to upset and offend Brian, Marco didn't.

JD had a choice. He could have kept his head down and got on with the job like the rest of them or he could have spent the time complaining about who he had to work with and trying to wind people up . He chose the latter.
