Anyone own a Sony N2 or a Sony W200?

Hello,

I want to buy a new camera but can't decide between the Sony N2 or the Sony W200. I want to stick with Sony as my current Sony camera has always been good (P100, had it over 4 years).

I need a really good camera as I travel a lot and I'm studying architecture at university. I basically want the best I can get for my money, I'd say my limit is £400.

Does anyone have any experience using either or both of these cameras?

Thanks

Both nice cameras but both compacts and lacking in zoom.

Would a bit of extra zoom not be handy for capturing detail on things from a distance if you are studying architecture?

Might be worth looking at something like the H5 (also Sony if you want to stick with them) which you can pick up for well under £400.

Good all round super-zoom and uses AA batteries which is handy if you're travelling as you can pick them pretty much anywhere if you need to.

Thanks for the suggestion. Unfortunately, I need the camera to be compact because I keep it in my bag almost all the time, you never know when you might see an interesting bit of architecture! I also walk a mile to uni everyday and I usually have enough already to carry, that I need it to be compact and fairly lightweight. Otherwise, I would love a better zoom.

If you want to remain compact, but would like the extra zoom, might be time to look at cameras by someone other than Sony.

10x optical zoom, excellent quality camera, well within your budget, as compact as it gets for that amount of zoom.

But it's a Panasonic (no bad thing that!) .....

Going back to your original two, they're much of a muchness really. About the same price so you'd be as well to go for the higher megapixel count so you can crop out detail that you're not going to get with such a limited zoom ....

Looks like a good camera, although i'd prefer more than 7.2mp.

I would prefer to stay with Sony because I already own two 4GB and two 2GB sony memory sticks that I can use rather than buying new ones compatible with a different camera.

I have the N1 it's a brilliant camera and the touch screen is excellent ,definately not gimmicky , the N2 is supposedly even better

Does it have the "anti-shake" feature? Also, I think I read somewhere that the N series cameras don't have battery indicators, which seems annoying, is this true?

The N1 doesn't have anti shake but it does have a battery indicator

ok thanks.

I didn't think the battery indicator thing would be true because it seemed so silly, but the info was on the Sony website, so thought i'd better check.
