Scheduled recordings discarded

I set up the recording schedule for several programmes while I was on holiday. I double-checked the recording list to make sure all the programmes were there. When I got home, I discovered that it had recorded the 2 programmes set for the first day I was away, but had apparently discarded all the rest. The recording schedule was empty. Does anyone know what might have happened? Thanks.

Hi
I found a similar problem about three weeks ago I was trying to record the F1 GP qualifying and race and then the British touring cars. the qualifying recorded but the others disappeared. It has only happened that one time.

I also have a TVonics DR160 this has a habit of missing recordings of radio programs very randomly.

For your information I use version 15 of the Humax FW

I've got a TVonics machine and have also missed occasional programmes although I've never been 100% sure if I had set the timer or not. Have you only ever experienced this on radio programmes with the TVonics? The only programme I ever record from the radio is Just A Minute and I would swear I'd set the timer; doesn't matter too much though as it's repeated on Sunday. Sometimes I get a "an error has occurred with this recording" message flash up when I'm watching a recording and then the message disappears although there hasn't been a (visible) problem with the recording that I could see anyway; do you ever get that message?

On the Humax

I never get any error message flagged.

The missing recordings I've had have only been on ITV channels.

On the TVonics

The missing radio recordings have only been on BBC7 (The Goons and late night stand up) I've had no problems with the main BBC radio stations. which are on MUXA. BBC7 is on MUXB where all the BBC interactive streams are located I wonder if that might be the problem.

No, there was loads of room & I only set it for a few programmes. The channels were BBC2, Channel 4 and ITV4.

Hi

Is this accurate recording going wrong perhaps?

Are you using padding or just "on time". If you are using 'on time' then you are at the mercy of the data the TV companies send and even more reliant on Humax's often less than perfect software.

I'd advise using padding.

Regards

Phil

I didn't realise "on time" used the TV signal - is that in the manual? However, I'd set it up to record 1 minute before the programme and 3 minutes afterwards.

Could be the 'clock' problem. If you sometimes see the display in standby is "----" (or "--:--", can't remember which) instead of the time of day the clock is playing up. Turning the box on usually fixes it (until the next time), so you can go a while without even noticing the problem. This is discussed in other threads but basically is a repair/replace the box on warranty job.

Obviously if the clock isn't working the box doesn't know when to wake up to record.

That's only on .15 (Freeview Playback). Setting any padding overrides AR - Accurate recording.
On .10 and earlier, setting "on time" means the time specified, not the broadcaster signalled start and end times.

It was displaying the right time when I got home. Maybe there's some other reason it didn't wake up.
