Panasonic Viera TH50PX70
Hi all, i am thinking of purchasing a Panasonic Viera TH50PX70. Is this a good choice or can anyone recommend another 50 inch plasma within my budget (£1500). Thanks

To be honest if it is a 50" Plasma you want stick with the Panasonic.
The SAMSUNG PS50Q96HD is around a grand and the LG 50PC56 is about the same, but I'd plump for the Panasonic if you want 50". If you wanted to downsize a bit then go for the Pioneer PDP-428XD, a bit over budget (after you buy a stand/wall bracket) but a better television. If that doesn't interest you then go for the Panasonic, although for 400 quid more the Panasonic TH50PZ700 (Full HD) is available and for around £1500 the 42PZ700 is available. |

I have the TH50PX60 and am very pleased with the picture. The sound is no doubt better on the PX600 but for movies etc I use my surround system anyway.
It's only 1080i but my mate's TX50PX70 (which is 1080p) lacks a few of the input options I have (composite and S-Video). |

px70 is NOT 1080p. the pz70 is 1080p
I installed a 42PZ70 the other day and i found it absolutely stunning. Although it's weird that Panasonic have started by shipping the set with the ped in the box, rather than having to buy it seperately. |

It might not be a 1080p panel.
Are the speakers at the side or underneith? The new Panasonic's support a 1080p input but downscale it to the native resolution of the screen. |

Its just the wall version is cheaper, its the TH42PZ70B. I've been looking around and the cheapest I've found the TH42PZ70PED for is £999 delivered |

If you go by the panel resolution alone then any panel with 1080 vertical pixels would be 1080p by default but these would be usually be called 1080i if that's all they accept. |

after seeing the 50inch physically, i have decided to go for the Panasonic Viera TH42PZ70B; this is a 1080p. The 50inch is MASSIVE.

I've heard it said (though I've not seen for myself so can't confirm this) that the SD performance of the Z70 is not as good as the X70 - but take that as a possible rather than a definite. |
