Fair enough, compare and contrast the technology, the price, the functionality, but what's the point in just name-calling when people try to put their point of view to you.....

Not noticeably. The coverview still doesn't deal with compilations properly either.

Has anyone bought one from an Argos store? I've got some money off there, but it looks like none are in stock. Nanos are though.

Does everything iTunes does (for audio anyway ... not sure about video) and more. It's faster. You can normalise your music volumes PROPERLY (not iTunes half assed propriatery method) and music will still play back on the iPod.

The wife uses it with her 5.5 gen. She has to really as all our music is normalised properly by MediaMonkey and they don't work if transferred through iTunes.

** EDIT **

Not usre if play count etc transfers to and fro like it sounds like iPod/iTunes does.”

As far as I heard, Apple have now made the new Ipods so that they will only work with Itunes, rendering all 3rd party software apps useless (correct me if i'm wrong)

The same goes with 3rd party cradles etc

No, they changed a file on iTunes to reduce corruption issues that has caused some 3rd party apps to break. All the writers of these apps needs to do is to release an update. Remember, Apple made the change to improve iTunes - it does not need to do anything to make it work with 3rd party apps.

Regarding docks, cables and so on. iPod Touch and iPhone now output component and composite video out signals so thus needed a new cable thus old ones won't work. It was not done to break compatibility, it was an upgrade to provide a better service.

The old cables, docks and so still work with iPod Classics and Nano's and new third party ones will work with the iTouch and iPhone - there is no DRM chip or any other nonsense in the cables.

I only have a shuffle at the moment, but want to upgrade. Did think about getting an iPod touch but then i thought, what's the point. Pay £200 pound for 8gb or £270 for 16gb, just to be flashy.
So I'd probabably go for the Classic. 80GB for £160 is a bargain in my opinion.

There are already new programs/upgrades to existing 3rd party programs that support the new iPod range.

No doubt more will follow in the future.
