just got a nokia n95. I know nothing about symbian and i wondered if there was a media player that will play most internet streams. Also need to find a browser. Firefox or similar. Maybe customise the main screen icons. Any help would be appreciated.

well it comes with real player and you can edit the buttons on the front screen in the settings menu and phone

There is also a web browser built in. Or you could buy Opera for it or download the free Opera Mini.

the phone has real player however it does not work with anything other than streams designed for real player such as the BBC streams. As far as changing the front screan the option is not there. settings and phonehas call, call divert barring etc. was hoping there was a symbian version of windows media player or winamp

Why are you looking under the call settings menu?
To change the active standby apps, look at SETTINGS>PHONE>STANDBY MODE.
If you want, you can download themes which change the way everything looks.
As for playing streaming media, why not have a look at somewhere like my-symbian.com to get an idea of what is available.

hate to say this but i been all over the web and you either have to register or have dead links or the download 'isn't supported' tried one called mundu radio and despite going to the right download it refused to work. I'm tired stressed and quite frankly fed up. Maybe i can think at a decent hour but i'm getting tired of the false 'not supported' line. It's getting old now

Why would you try Mundu? It isn't for Symbian 9 phones.

You need to be looking for Series 60 3rd edition software.

In the same way as you have Windows 98, Windows XP, Vista etc. There are different versions of Symbian. The N95 is a Symbian 9 phone which runs the Nokia Series 60 3rd Edition (feature pack 1) interface.
So when you go to My-Symbian or wherever, you need to look in the Series 60 3rd edition section.
Hope this helps with the confusion.

http://www.coreplayer.com/

Coreplayer plays mp3 and aac+ streams perfectly, with the added bonus that it plays divx videos too $24.95

that costs. I was looking at oggplay but i keep being directed from site to site and links don't work. Even sourceforge gave me the runaround as well as download.com really is bad when the simplest things won't work. Major sites that simply can't deliver. Not impressed at all
