can anyone help?
first time i've asked for assistance on a web forum but there's a first time for everything! ok guys, just wondering in simple terms how it is possible for me to connect a Monster iCable from my laptop to stereo system. I was told to look out for the R and W signs at the back of stereo for the leads to go into. There doesn't seem to be any holes for them to fit perfectly into so now a tad bit frustrated haha. My stereo is just over a year old and is Panasonic CD stereo system SA-EN9. Any guidance would be well and truly appreciated. Perhaps I have purchased the wrong cable but I was told by the guy at Commet it should be compatible with most systems. Please someone help... anyone! No technology buff as you can tell.

If you're switching from tuner to CD is there also an Aux button?
You'll need to have AUX IN left and right phono inputs on the back of the hi-fi. |

thanks for your reply, yes there is an aux button which I have found on the remote, so the stereo is now set to that. The only holes in which the 2 main ends would slide into are the ones that are named, AUX, DC IN, PHONES and LINE OUT. But even so, they still seem a bit loosly fitting and could easily come out with a slight pull.

The phono in sockets are normally coloured 1 red and 1 white. What are the AUX sockets like?

I can only find one AUX socket which is just a hole that any of the two connection leads woud loosly fit into. As for Phono in I can see no such socket for that. only sockets I can see are the one's I have stated in my previous post. Hmm

I've had a look on the Panasonic website and I can't find that model number (they have an archive), are you sure the model number is right?
![]() Edit: I've found it, the SCEN9 manual. ![]() I believe you need a 3.5mm to 3.5mm male lead. Looks just like a headphone plug on both ends. |

If it fits then the AUX in is a jack not a phono socket. If that is the case either chuck the iCable in the bin or take it back to Comet and see if they will take it back (doubtful knowing them!) and swap it for a Jack to Jack lead. If Comet won't replace the lead then instead of buing a whole new lead and keeping one you cannot use try one of these... http://www.maplin.co.uk/Module.aspx?...a=jack%20phono Phono to jack adapter. Plug the iCable into that and then into the Panasonic. Last edited by chrisjr : 14-09-2007 at 15:45. Reason: More info |

Just out of interest. Plug the jack end (ie the end you plugged into the laptop) of the iCable into the AUX in on the stereo.

OK, I have tried plugging the laptop end into AUX and it fits PERFECTLY. So to confirm before I go back to the store, it's a jack to jack cable I need instead?

Looks like with a combination of these last two posts you've sorted out the problem. Just hope the guy at Comet lives up to his promise. "Comet" and "helpful" are not often seen in the same sentance, unless the word helpful is preceded by "not".
