Home theatre problem.
Model;
Panasonic Home Theatre Sound System SA HT 530 We mainly watch the tv through the SKY menu. The Home Theatre works fine when watching DVD's on it, all the speakers do what they should do. When watching the tv however, not a squeak out of three speakers. How do I get all the speakers to work for the tv (I realise cinema sound will not be available for tv progs) A workmate is able to achieve this by changing the sound mode on his telly from Dolby to something or other but I can't see this being my problem with this system. |

If you have Sky+ you need to connect the optical digital out to the Panny's the optical digital in and then choose this input when watching Sky.
If you have ordinary Sky, just connect a phono left/right cable from Sky (or the back of the TV) to the left/right AUX phono input of the Panny and then select this input when watching Sky or other TV. Rgds, Scorp |

Rgds, Scorp How do I select the preffered input? Is it something I do with the Panasonic Home Theatre or something I do with the telly? |

for the sound you must select Aux on the home theatre for watching Sky.
On the TV you probably have the home theatre connected to a scart socket called AV1 (or similar). You should have the Sky scart (called 'TV out') connected to TV AV2. You toggle between these on your TV for viewing the desired input. Similarly, you toggle beween Aux (for Sky) and DVD on the home theatre for the correct sound choice. Rgds, Scorp |

Thanks again Scorpio,
I've finally got it working after one whole year thanks largely to you. I connected the tv to the panasonic with the audio cables but it still wouldn't work (fully) when I selected the tv channel on the panasonic home theatre. After scrolling thru the user manual, I found a tiny prompt that tells me if I; Press SHIFT & SUPER SURROUND and then select PARTY from the list something or other will happen (nothing specified tho) When I tried this, all the speakers sprang into life while watching tv thru SKY menu. Why the hell do Panasonic not see this as an important point when writing it's user manual? Surely this eqpt is gonna be mostly used for watching the telly. Zero out of ten points Panasonic for a simply pathetic technical support publication. Thanks again Scorpio. |

I had exactly the same problems trying to connect my Samsung tv to a samsung home cinema system via sky plus.The Samsung manuals are the same ie they do not cover how to properly connect the devices together so sound comes through the home cinema system when watching tv.

Unless you want the pub surround sound effect, you won't normally have sound coming out of all the speakers.
Selecting pro logic or pro logic II is the best option for the true surround effect from a tv broadcast. Unless it is your preference to have the same sound coming from all speakers - in which case a home theatre receiver was not required. My inlaws have spent a fair bit on AV equipment over the years and always complain it doesn't do this or doesn't do that - if they hadn't chucked the manual straight away or understand the basics, their expectations would be a little more realistic! |
