About to buy a new tv for the wife. Now i've got a 32'' Samsung - one of those which looks like a lcd but is in fact a slim crt with a bump at the back. Bloody heavy but the picture is acceptable for all in the house. We just have a humax tuner and don't intend to get sky at any time because i don't think HD will make any difference to my 52 year old eyes.

Is anyone in the same position. I would like to get a bigger tv ie. 37'' or 40'' as me and my son plan to raid her tv when the football is on and it is a big room although i would say she has her seat about 8ft away at the moment although there is plenty of room to expand although it takes her away from the radiator but we can push the couch back for the footie.

Anyone have a cheap tv in this range preferably lcd or plasma which gives acceptable pictures for those on SD.

I would not personally touch any of the above suggestions with a bargepole.

If you want a cheap deal then perhaps the following at Empire Direct.

Packages TOS-37C3030DB http://www.empiredirect.co.uk/conten...Asc&m=Packages

If you can run to it the Sony D3000 however seems to currently be the recommendation for the best SD performance. Although dearer than the Toshiba I was impressed by the performance of a Philips 37PFL5522 I saw last week on its own iinternal DVB-T tuner.

You do not say however what the source/sources for your SD footie will be?
