You're right everyone's entitled to their own opinion , I have my own opinion of Leona but it would not be helpful to post it here as I know she has fans who I have no wish to upset , if only others could follow that example

It's pure cheese. Made for the American market surely? If it were 1990 she'd do well.

Well the Phil Collins style drum beat is much clearer. If you like that kind of thing.

This just shows why Simon is not the person to guide a successful music career. And why he was the man behind Mr Blobby and Robson and Jerome.

Hey, certain Leona fans need to stop assuming every single person who doesn't like it has some kind of agenda, there will be some.

I like it. I agree it's good but also nothing majorly special. It's definitely a grower and i think it will chart at number one for a week due to it being fairly good and will get lots of promotion. I agree with someone else here who said they would have expected more from a first original single - this to me would have been a perfect 2nd original song so that people have already become re-introduced to her sound/music. It has some great parts, she sounds great on it, i like the vibe - it's just not quite a strong enough song to be her 1st original. Certainly not strong enough to break America with - it's like a 2nd rate Mariah (the song, not her) maybe they'll use another one. I wouldn't say this is any stronger than "No Promises" actually, i agree with the overhyping comments - its done her no favours. I think it's a good song to perform live so that should help.

... and that is my personal opinion with a completely open mind.

I can't say I like it. A bit screechy to me, if I'm honest. And no, I'm not a hater, I'm allowed an opinion so don't jump on me for it.

Thanks for your constructive post. Like I said, not everyone has to like it and I certainly didn't expect everyone to. (Especially on this forum lol.

I'm a Leona fan but sorry to say I expected more from her first original single from her album. Not to say it's a bad song, it's actually quite good but it doesn't wow me the way I expected her new single to.

I'm listening to it now on Radio One. It's as fantastic as I'd hoped it would be. Very catchy, and the retro style works surprisngly well.

It's not going to be to everyone's taste..... But then again that's the music industry for you.

But it's a million times better then the usual reality stuff.

And yes, it isn't as bad as Shayne Wards effort. Well it isn't any where near bad in the first place.

So is anyone who doesn't like the song a 'hater' then? I only ask because I thought it was pretty average as well as extremely dull, and Leona was my second favorite act on the show last year....

Yeah thats what i thought, i was expecting them to give her something a bit more dramatic that caught peoples attention straight up and was unique to her, it will grow on people bigtime and get loads of airplay though. I just think this is the kinda stuff Kelly Clarkson can easily come out with anytime and without being locked away with no other releases for nearly a year. Maybe they have a stronger 2nd one planned for xmas, since they know so many big releases are out in Oct.

It's better than Moment Like This, and yes it is nice to see this kinda stuff coming from a UK artist. I can see her sticking around a few years, and having about same kinda success as Clarkson or Will, she'll do respectably in the states but i don't see like loads of USA no 1's happening.

I heard it this morning and I think "relief" sums up my feeling best. Everything had sounded great so far but we all know how Simon can make painful mistakes. The more I listen to it, the better I think it is.

It's not an obvious ballad (I expect we will have at least one traditional ballad as a single at some point) and they didn't go overboard on the vibrato. I thought we would get an obvious belter with excessive amounts of vibrato just to prove she can sing and make a big deal out of it. I'm pleased they didn't and went for a mid-tempo and more contemporary song (although it certainly has a "retro" edge to it). Between TV appearances and (hopefully) a good bit of airplay, this song could do really well because I think it's a grower.

One poster said it's "cheesy" which I have to disagree with. "If That's OK With You" was a cheesy 90's song. She's not singing about wanting to "Saint your mother" or whatever that painful line was.

I think it's by far the best single to appear from an XF act so far, although the competiton isn't particularly tough, it has to be said.

I think she'll do well in the US with it as well. Releasing in January/ February with plenty of promotion, I can see this going top 10 and probably top 5 on the billboard hot 100.

EDIT: The second single will be more important in the US. Here, she will sell huge in her first weeks whereas in the US she will be looking to build momentum with a few good singles and prolonged exposure.
