Sony STR-DG910 AV Receiver
Went out yesterday and brought the above receiver to add to my system. I didn't have a lot to spend, so spending around £300 seemed like a good idea.
This amp had all the 'goodies' I needed; 3 HDMI in, optical audio and HDMI out obviously. All the paperwork says everything is capable upto 1080p. Fair enough. Anyway, plugged it all up together yesterday and the picture quality seems to have degenerated if anything. Where there are thick (normally) dark colours on the picture, there are occasional flashes of dots and also along some darker outlines of people/buildings. I have an LG 42" Plasma screen with two HDMI in, so I unplugged the receiver and wired my V+ and XBox straight into the back of the TV and the problem was instantly solved. Question is: is there anywhere on the receiver i can change some settings or something to alleviate this problem? I feel like I've wasted some money in buying a reputable brand that has let me down. I must be doing something wrong somewhere. The XBox is wired into the receiver via HDMI as is the V+ and Apple TV; they ALL show signs of picture degradation (but only as I remarked, the dots, where it can't seem to handle the picture). The picture is watchable but it gets on my tits after a few mins. Sony's online support has been no help at all, although I can now download the user manual in Icelandic and Peruvian. Link for the receiver is here If anyone has any idea's or experience I would appreciate some help
