JVC AV-32R47SK 32 inch CRT - Long Shot

I have this TV and it is a very nice set (if feeling old fashined now against the LCDs). The only issue I have is that it cuts the picture too much in Full mode. Therefore on Sky News and the like you cannot read the scrolling info at the bottom.

Does anyone have a fix for this or know of where I can find the service manual for free to check the settings.

Thanks for any help.

You can check it and, if you're feeling brave, adjust it yourself.

Press "i" and Audio Mute at the same time to get to the Service Menu, then choose the "Def" (Deflection) option (it's No.4 IIRC). Scroll through the settings until you come to "V Size" and adjust to taste.

Thanks. I will feel brave!

Do you know what the setting should be and also how you exit and save?

Cheers

I've not got that exact model but on mine 'OK' Saves the setting, then [i] exits it. There is no 'correct' setting, otherwise you wouldn't be given the option to change it. What I'd do is just adjust it by one or two points until you are happy.

(Oh, and be really careful with the engineering menu!).

Just out of interest - how's the brightness on your set on RGB?

Thanks I'll try later. The brightness is very good under RGB. In fact it is very good picture all round apart from it not fitting right.

PS. what model do you have?

Thanks so much. That worked a treat. Changed the V size and V something else and that sorted it. That has bugged me for years. Glad I asked on here.

Glad it worked,

Mine's an AV-32R25EK - the one with the great big subwoofer bolted on the top! The reason I asked about the RGB is because the only way I found of fixing the dark picture I had was through the engineering menu. That's also where I found how dangerous some of the controls were.

I have to agree about how good these late model JVC sets are though. When my (not that) old Thomson suddenly went bang I was faced with having to buy something else. I didn't want to rush blindly into LCD/Plasma so I got this one off Ebay to tide me over for a few months until I'd researched the subject thoroughly. I now think that this will be a long term thing though - the picture is pin-sharp perfect, the sound is spectacular - and it's quite a nice looking object when switched off too.

(and I can't face trying to move the thing anyway!!!)

Hi,

So what do you need to tweak in the engineering menu to fix the dark RGB problem. I had a quick look, managed to collapse the picture but fortunately managed to get out of it !!!

Any help would be appreciated.

Cheers
Rob
