Unlocking question: K800i on O2
BreatheMe
16-09-2007
Just bought a K800i on O2, because it was the cheapest I found. I'm on Vodafone and want to stay with them.

I just spoke to somebody at O2, and they told me that in the terms and conditions it says that they will only provide the unlocking code after 12 months as the mobile number I gave that came with the phone was only activated today.

If I rang them and gave them a mobile number that has been active over 12 months, and told them I bought the phone in say, August 2006, would they give me the unlock code? Or would they find out from the IMEI that it's a recent phone?

they would reconise the IMEI number.

The best option is to take it to one of these places that "unlock" phones, normally in the market

I did same i got the K800i few months ago on O2 cause it was the most cheap but i wanted to stick with T-Mobile so i tuke it into a phone shop near me and they unlocked it for 30 quid so now i can use any sim card in it. I thought 30 quid was abit much at first but was worth it in end as i saved money gettin the k800i anyway and with 02 the cool thing about gettin mobile from them is that it dont have the network Logo stamped on the mobile like other networks do.

WOW where you get yours done for 5 quid then?, most people i spoke to on here it cost them from 20 to 25 quid and cost me 30 as sonys hard to unlock as you need a special thing to do it not just a code

Twas done in a small shop in Stafford, he had a special offer on at the tame. You would need a special little program to unlock it and a data cable(not the one that comes with the phone) to do it yourself.

yeah a PAYG mobile, i dont mind that i paid 30 quid to get it unlocked as its one of the best mobiles i ever had stores loads even without memory card, i got the mobile cheap anyway as it was in a sale and nice to be able to put any sim in and i like how O2 dont stick there logo on front of mobile aswell
