Could you tell me a bit about him? I confess I've never heard of him.....
Wade!

I'm a long term Wade fan He's incredibly creative, I love his choreography.

He sometimes judges and choreographs on So You Think You Can Dance (the American Strictly Dance Fever, kind of). He won an Emmy this year for the choreography of his 'Ramalama' piece (joint with Mia Michaels for her Flower/Bench piece).

Ramalama (Bang Bang) (or 'The Zombie Prom' as it's sometimes known)

Hummingbird and Flower

Those are my two favourites.

Cabaret Hoover

Angel and Devil

That isn't all of them, just some of the ones I love most!

And here's a couple of clips of Wade himself dancing.

WOW! Cheers quacka for all that - very enlightening!
Nice of you to take the time to post all those links. Sooo many comments to make.....
I see on SYTYCD that choreographers make up the routines of the couples? I remember on SDF (which I LOVED and still miss ) the couples themselves had to choreograph their own routines after getting a master class in the particular style. That's how Sadie Flower came to the fore, even though she wasn't technically the best dancer, and is working today as a choreographer.
Being a Matthew Bourne girl myself, and a melody lover, I note that most of Wade's work is to percussive tracks. The contemporary pieces were a bit too avant garde for my tatses, but I can appreciate he has a unique style and it's very popular.
The Zombie Prom one I had actually seen before, (but didn't know it was him) an adult skater (and Judge) from Melbourne used that music and theme for her interpretive programme, and got into a big row with a Coach at her rink about it (who thought it was tosh and she was outraged!) I see she must've been inspired by Aussie Wade!

I'm definitely looking forward to seeing him dance on next week's DWTS anyway, in the meantime, I thought this was cute.

You're welcome!

I like the little I've seen of Matthew Bourne's work, though I wouldn't say I'm a fan - haven't seen enough of it to say.

Yes, the dances are choreographed on SYTYCD - except for their solos in the results shows, which the dancers choreograph themselves. (Examples: 1, 2, 3. No particular reason why I chose the last two, but I chose the first one because he's another one of my favourite dancers.)

Yes, I've seen that vid! So cute.

OMG!! Danny Rocks!! His spins and leaps are amazing!! That's my kind of dancing, where you can see the aesthetic lines, rather than the upturned feet and bent arms of Wade's choreo.
YAY for British Nigel for sticking up for Danny! I had no idea he was on this programme as a Judge. I so have to watch the next series from scratch if the clips are on youtube and follow it like DWTS. (Got a feeling Cat Deeley will get on my nerves though).
So did the girlies vote for Neil to win?

Actually, Sabra won. Danny came second, Neil third and Lacey fourth.

Cat Deeley will get on your nerves, she gets on everybody's nerves! But it's well worth watching, there are some incredible dancers. Danny is my favourite (he's probably my favourite dancer ever, not just on the show) but there are many other fantastic dancers too.

Thanks! I really like Nigel as a Judge on this, he's not so *nasty* anymore, and ofcourse he's a trained dancer. IMO much better than any of the Judges on SCD or DWTS. That first clip was interesting cos I got to see Wade judging too, and OMG at his pure American accent - no trace of Aussie left, shame. He's defo handsome though.

Hmmm, didn't prefer Sabra to Danny at all. So much of dance is about body proportions, and she looked out of kilter to me, especially her neck line was ugly, and I didn't see outstanding technique either. Definitely didn't take my breath away like Danny, who could join any dance company in the world with his glorious technique and line.

This show is quite different to SDF where a couple would win, but it looks a fab show with a much younger profile audience than DWTS. Cat Deeley notwithstanding I shall look forward to following this for the new season. When does it start again? Hopefully we can have a thread going in this forum.

WOW! For Lacey & Danny's Samba! That was HOT!
She is a way better dancer than Sabra, both in technique, balance and aesthetically IMO. Danny partnered her very well, there was oodles of chemistry between them that wasn't there for the other couple. Is it solely a public vote, how did Danny not win and Sabra did? Lacey second, Neil 3rd and Sabra I don't know where till I see the others dance. Oh well!

Actually was it Wade who said that Danny was "arrogant"? Hmm methinks he's jealous of his pure sublime technique.

I have the last series of SYTYCD on my hard drive. I did upload the Hummingbird dance but it got taken down by the PTB......Rotters!

I loved the group dances at the beginning of the results shows. Swamp Monster Dance and Rich Man's Frug type dance by Wade and 'The Moment I Said It ' by Mia.

Dance X ..phwah, phwah...spit!

Following up last night's show, just catching up with this very kind person's videos on youtube: copagedesigns

Bigtoe, I do agree with you about Drew, wasn't sure of him at first - I don't know him and still haven't gotten around to looking up his old vids winning with Cheryl - but last night I thought he was excellent and complimented Tom very well, they make a very good team, more in tune than with Samantha who is a bit grating. Drew asked some excellent questions, relevant to the training footage, and hit the right note of relaxed comedy, but not afraid to say something a bit sarky too, it was entertaining.
Just in case you wanted to see Drew & Cheryl's turn as partners here's a Youtube link.
They are still probably my favorite team from all seasons. They weren't perfect technique wise, but they were a lot of fun and worked hard.

Thanks very much for that link sari, I enjoyed it, Drew's technique is not bad at all, he's a very short man but had alot of presence on the floor.

I note that series had some big names in the cast, will have to spend some time catching up with everybody's videos asap, and also see the different pros who aren't there this year.

I thought Julianne Hough was awesome in Series 4. Right now my desire to see her again is battling with my reluctance to pay for it.

No, that was Adam Shankman. He retracted the comment in the results show

Until top 10, America votes the bottom 3 and the judges choose who go. After that, it's public vote.

That's good to hear! Doubt CRH or Arlene would ever do the same.

I shall refrain from criticisng the American public on this occasion.

I don't think s3 (the one with Hummingbird/Flower and Danny, Lacey etc) has aired in the UK yet - we had a discussion post at the time it was aired in the US, though I think there was only me and about two other people on it! Season 4 will start in the US around May, I think, that's when it started this year.

I have them all saved on my hard drive Every episode ever!

(Interesting fact: three of the season 3 contestants had a brother in the top 20 of season 2. So You Think You Can Dance Like Your Brother, more like!)

There was also a bit of a fuss because it seems Julianne Hough 'copied' some of the mambo done by the winner of SYTYCD in series 3 of DWTS.

I know what you mean, there's something too stage schooly about her. She is a good dancer but apparently she sings and dances for a living and has been performing since she was a young child.

Where do they get their marks from? That would have been 2 or 3 in UK.

Just watching this - can't believe the marks! No way was Maria Osmond's tango a 9. Even in week 1 in the UK that'd have been a 7, tops.

I've noticed that the judges are very generous with their scores in DWTS. They tend to give 7's where they would give 4's in the UK.

It seems strange that three weeks in and couples are getting three 9's. It's not giving any leeway for them improving during the series.

But then again the judges tend not to be as critical in the US, everything is sugar coated.
