Technically yes, - but only til January when he marries Ali Vazquez. If you're thinking of making a move, you'd better get going

Quacka, of course people should not criticise Sabrina's weight etc. I don't think thats acceptable at all. However, the main objection in the US is that they already class her as a pro dancer (nothing to do with that cheetah tango btw)
and she is an accomplished dance instructor. That is where the problem lies..

thats not fair at all, if anything she should be classed as a pro dancer. btw, I wasn't referring to her weight when I say 'heavy footed' or 'like she is going to break the floor' I swear

Oh, I hope that didn't sound standoffish and know-it-all like. It wasn't meant that way, but I was halfway through a bowl of ice cream so perhaps wasn't thinking as I was typing! In fact I know I didn't

No, what I meant was -

I know about her dance training. But it seems (to me) like she is being treated very harshly compared to the others with dance training (Joey McIntire, Joey Fatone (who I believe had more of the same kind of training that Sabrina has had), Monique Coleman, Drew Lachey, Mario Lopez, Mel B...even Jane Seymour, who did ballet for many years and so would have an enormous advantage over the others in terms of carriage, posture, lines with her arms etc.)

And one more thing - she didn't force anyone to let her on the show. It was the producers' choice and they obviously feel like she is amateur enough to count as a celeb. And yes, you can say they wanted ratings and the 'young vote' but hey - she's not the only one they could have chosen. One of the kids from Hannah Montana or some other Disney show, for example.

Course, that's only my personal opinion, and anyone can like or dislike her as they please, for reasons of their choice - it's got nothing to do with me - but there you go.

I know, I didn't think you were. I did say 'on other forums' There's saying 'she is heavy footed when she dances' and 'she is the size of an elephant and clomps around on stage' - the latter is what I object to

I know nothing about the Cheetah Girl show but I had heard people say she had a lot of dance experience. I also didn't know she was a dance instructor too.

I know others do have some experience but she does seem more pro than the others.

To me she is untidy in her dancing, she seems to have a lack of control and lacks the grace that someone like Jane Seymore has.

I will be interested to see her Waltz.

I do too! I'm sick of all the body fascism on forums. The thing I do like about Sabrina is that she's not a size zero. I liked Jill Halfpenny for looking like a size 14, and already this year Letitia is getting it in the neck for her "apple shape". Sabrina actually reminds me of Letitia - both are blond, cute and apple shaped - naturally. And you can't say that Sabrina isn't 100% fit and healthy and energetic. Some people are just naturally rounder and curvier - we can't all be born size 8s - so why do *celebs* or people in the public eye, or even ordinary people at school, in the workplace, whatever, get bashed for it? It's sickening!

quacka, hey, I don't think anyone sounds like a 'know-it-all' on here . We're all just giving our opinions right ?
I really enjoy everyones different viewpoints on things.

Its interesting how people may think that Joey F.'s experience can be equated with Sabrina's. He doesn't have a dance background, just a bit of acting before the boyband.
Miles away from Sabrinas experience. I like Jane, but with respect she's 56 so she will be at a distinct disadvantage with the faster dances.
Sabrina has said in interview that she approached the show twice begging to compete but was turned down because of 'your extensive dance background would be unfair on the other contestants'. But hey ho, at the end of the day it is true they want to attract younger audiences as well. Apparently, she is the only contestant being heavily promoted on the Disney channel.
Anyhoo, after all that blathering on, she'll still make the final and very possibly win.

Oh right! So did you all just watch the clips on youtube, like I'm doing with DWTS, or was there a live webcam or something? Also what channel does it get broadcast on over here?

Aha! I saw the *borrowed* moves, the intricate wrap around with the arms around the neck in hold, then the side by side steps on the spot - but I'll forgive her those, as they are classic mambo moves.....but then the foot over the head repeated at the end - ha!

Ah well, even the greats borrow from others. Chris Dean *borrowed* an awful lot from Christopher Bruce's Ghost Dances for the Missing routine.

One thing I've noticed with Julianne, like Chris Dean, she repeats a particular move 3 times, just to make sure you don't miss it. Like in Helio and her Mambo last week, at the end where she leans backwards with her head with arm around his body, she does that 3 times in a row. One too many I thought!

I erm...acquired them elsewhere on the internet

And over here, it is broadcast on Living. I expect that s3 should be shown probably next month-ish, though there doesn't seem to be a date yet.

Hi La Rhumba, starting next week, I'm unable to join you for the weekly DWTS webcam.
Early morning starts mean I need my shuteye, seriously.
Gutted doesn't come into it
So I'm counting on you to keep posting your appraisals of the performances and all the gossip of course

I disagree! I feel that the American public are already going for Helio's charm and danceability, and love Julianne. The combo is unstoppable.

Mark Ballas is still unknown as Sabrina is hogging all the limelight in their partnership. So far he hasn't said much, and considering that mostly the audience is more mature I feel they will lose out in the popular vote eventually. JMO.

Awww, bigtoe, I'm truly gutted too!

I'll do me best, but it defo won't be the same without you.

If I retire early, I'll certainly catch up with youtube the next day, and post thoughts on the performances.....you try and stop me!

We'll exchange views on this thread even if it's a few hours afterwards!

Life, and early starts, what a bummer! puh!

Alas, no Living for me. Only Freeview, I'm afraid. I'm technically and digitally very challenged. So thank gawd for youtube.

Good points, - Poor guy can't get a word in can he ?
It works better if you promote the partnership

I wait to watch this on UKTV Gold on my widescreen TV & Sky+ it so I can FF the ad's & waffle.
Which means I have to avoid this thread like the plague until after I've watched .
Jennie was my fave this week, I was really pleased for her & Derek.
I really love watching Sabrina dance I can't help it but I cannot stand listening to her big gob, so she's one of the ones I FF.
Maks actually managed some good choreography for Mel & she was great - don't like the animal print dresses tho .
Helio was a bit disappointing but I'm sure he'll bounce back.
(I have a little crush on the Hough's ).
Jane was overmarked imo but it's obvious why, so I'll say no more (Carrie Ann was cringingly ott & embarrassing though).
Glad Wayne went I FF all his bit as I cannot bear to watch him even speak, sorry he just made my skin crawl - billionaire or not . So I can't in all fairness comment on his dancing.
None of the others really stand out for me yet, so I can't remember enough to say much about them tbh, sorry.
I always watch my fave's twice & it was three girls I've mentioned at the top this week.

Well that's just nasty I can't believe people are saying that. She's just naturally curvy, and I admire her for promoting that

I read this interesting comment on an American DWTS forum:

Quote:
“Just thought I'd pass along some interesting news I found out today. You know how Maks is always criticized for his choreography? Well, guess what? All of the other pros, except Maks and Tony, have professional choreographers do their routines. Corky and Shirley Ballas choreograph for Marky, Julianne, and Derek; and Cheryl - who is always praised for her choreography - has NEVER choreographed her own numbers.”

I'm a bit biased as I'm a fan of Maks, but he does sometimes get criticised for his choreography, which I always find quite good, with plenty of content and I like the way he always tries to portray a story, although I know he can sometimes be a bit too theatrical for some people's taste.

I totally agree with you jacquiann about Mel's animal print dresses. I hope they aren't going to play on the scary spice thing for all her latin numbers and I hope she's not waltzing this week in a leopard print full length gown with fur trimings.

Hmmm, I wonder where that poster got their information from?

I'd be surprised, as surely it's a requirement of the show for the pros to choreograph their own routines?

Derek Hough was brought over [though I think he lives part of the time in London anyway] to choreograph for Bruno's Team in DanceX, so he is already employed as a choreographer and it's part of his CV.

Sounds like a bitter Maks fan to me just making it up.

As for Cheryl getting praise for her choreo? Really? Maybe in America, but having watched all her routines with Ian, IMO she didn't fully utilize his talents or bring the best out of him, and one of the reasons was dull choreography.

I'm not sure a about where the poster got their info from La Rhumba, the posters on the board are all American and a lot of them seem to be quite knowledgable about dance and seem to have been to workshops run by some of the pros on DWTS.

I agree that Ian was under utillised in the last series. I really liked him and I think that Cheryl could have used a bit more of his personality in some of their routines. I thought he was great in the Elvis number, but by then it was too late, I thought the standard of the last four this year was very good, all very different, but all very capable.

I heard that during the first two seasons, the pros had help with their choreography if they wanted it, but always had to have a hand in it. Season 3 on, they were on their own.

This is just what I've heard, I don't know if it's true.

I heard a radio interview with Maks the other day where he said that this year is probably his last on DWTS. He is currently choreographing a Las Vegas show (similar to Cirque to Soleil) and has been offered the chance to choreograph some shows on Broadway. He also said that he had a girl flying in from Russia to audition to be his partner in competitions as he's thinking of competing again.

Mel B has also started rehearsing for the Spice Girl's tour and he is going to the rehearsals with her ... so does this mean we may see some more imaginitive choreography from the Spices ...lol

Anyone else hear Ricky Hatton on Parkinson about Mayweather??
He said Mayweather is so full of himself that if he could be reincarnated he would want to come back as himself.
HAHAHA.
