Len's comment made me laugh when he went to Mel and Maks

"that routine was perfected, inspected, disected and as far as i'm concerned it won't be rejected it was fantastic"

haha bless Len

After last night's bizarre soundless webcam experience - were we all crazy to stay up? - I've watched the videos this morning, and written a review blog: here.

I must admit I wouldn't have noticed it if I hadn't read about it. She did handle it well though, guess it goes to show we're all human.

Raphael has put this message up on his site, so hopefully things will be OK for the result's show tonight.

Quote:
“Hello All. I am sorry that there was no sound during last night's webcast. I checked on the equipment at 7:20 PM and the sound was on. I was not available to fix it during the show because I was not at home.

Today during the results show I can check to make sure the sound is on at around 6PM but then I will not be available to fix any glitches after that unfortunately since again I will not be at home. Hope everything will run smoothly.”

Remember the show will start at 1.00 am for us tonight because of the clocks going back here and not in the US.

Did they know what it was?

I kept watching over and over and just thought Julianne had said something funny under her breath that made them laugh backstage, but I couldn't hear it properly so couldn't work out what?

Now we know! She did cope well, especially with them all laughing at her, I bet she's deeply embarrassed though.

I wonder how the story got out? Someone with big gob obviously, bet she'd rather have kept it very quiet, poor luv.

The general concensus on some of the boards was that she snorted when she laughed then it was confirmed that the noise came from lower down ...lol. You can't really hear it very well on the videos but imagine it was a lot louder if you were in the vercinity, so the others in the green room obviously heard it

I enjoyed reading your blog too, La Rhumba, and I agree with you about the ending of Maks and Mel's dance. I absolutely loved their dance, the music and their costumes, but I would have preferred if they had just ended it by hugging or strolling along the floor. Somehow them going and hugging the judges kind of killed the moment at the end. They should have ended it like the rumba Maks did with Laila last year where they looked like they were having a damn good snog !!!!

I know if I was doing a rumba with Maks, that's how I would like it to end ..lol

Thanks diamond, and muchos thanks for keeping us updated and across all the info on the web about DWTS, we appreciate it.

Helio certainly found it very funny last night, pointing at her, like a schoolboy LOL!

Definitely M&M's Rhumba just came back to reality a bit suddenly didn't it?
We'd have preferred them to stay in the moment and linger rather than mingle with those Judges.
But it was still the most professional performance last night, and to me, Mel even outperformed Edyta in the quality of her movement and interpretation. It was superb, and yet simple, if only people would realise what a Rhumba is, like Maks created, then it wouldn't get such a bad press amongst the fans of these shows.

Looking at the official forum for DWTS on the abc site, Mel and Maks are getting a lot of criticism from people saying that all they did was pose, there was no dancing.

I know nothing about the technicalities of dancing, but from what I've picked up from judges comments etc, I would have thought that a lot of the moves in the rumba consist of kind of posing. It seems that the skill is in having the control to hold these poses and then slowly move onto another one, and I thought that Mel did this perfectly. I thought it was a beautifully controlled dance.

I know that Maks came in for a lot of stick for his choreography last year, but I've really enjoyed what he's done with Mel and I love it when he can't understand her Leeds accent in the VT's. In last night when he was trying to imitate her saying "stuck" or as she said "stuuurrrrk" was hilarious.

I didn't like Helio and Juliannes chacha. 10 from Len
Can someone help me, what is it exactly that is so different about Julianne this season??? She seems so much older for one thing, but what else is it?
Is it me or is there an air of desperation about her?

Len's tie and shirt looked weird last night because the colours just didnt go.

I noticed that Julianne's attitude seems to have changed a bit. I feel she is a bit cocky (maybe after winning last year) and back answers the judges a bit and seems a bit pissy if they get criticised.

I wasn't too keen on her comment last night about Helio being the only non-performer left in the competition, that did seem like a desperate cry for votes.

I must admit I prefer the attitude of her brother.

I agree, at first I thought it was the combination of being last years champ and then the weight of expectation this season. A bit of humility wouldn't go amiss at this stage. I also think she needs to work on her relationship with Helio.

Hi bigtoe, {blog comment replying to you, reposting here incase you don't see it.}

I actually toned down what I originally said about their Cha Cha so as not to offend H&J supporters, of which there are many, whatever they do, and rewrote that section. (Should've sent you the original draft!)
I didn't like the dance at all on first viewing, thought it was tacky, but on second and third viewings I was able to appreciate the skill in Helio's basic Cha Cha footwork and rhythmical hip action, he really did well, and kept up with Julianne in the timing which was excellent, as they moved around the floor. I think Len was impressed with his technique, he tends to mark Jennie the highest aswell, and her technique is also good. If Len sees alot of basic steps and moves pertaining to that rhythm he gives a good score, but I agree, I wouldn't have given a 10 either.

Julianne needs to stop trying to WOW the audience, and just concentrate on Helio's strengths and creating pretty and effective dances. It's not Rocket Science, but she's acting like it is, cos she got overly praised IMO by many people for these amazing creations for Apollo and now folk think she's this Dance innovator. She's a 19 year old kid still learning, and will make mistakes, but will she learn from them? Not if the likes of their hideous VW gets 3x9s, she won't, or this Cha Cha a 10! Was surprised Helio said it was his first 10 though, thought they already had some, other couples are getting lots, but clearly H&J are getting the public votes.

BTW gang, what do you think about asking for a DWTS sub forum?

This thread often gets shoved down to pages 3 or 4 and then people don't know it's there, and they start a new thread, and people often direct them here, or they give out the same links frequently.

If we had a min sub forum, we could keep several threads together, and stickies with webcam links and videos etc. That would be good.

I think DWTS is pretty popular, and this has long been my fave thread on DS, and the most interesting. I've learnt alot about Wade Robson and SYTYCD from Quacka, and lots of stuff from other posters for which I'm very appreciative.
Then when SYTYCD starts up again we could have the thread on the subforum too.

TBH if it wasn't for this thread, I might not bother coming on the rest of the SCD DS forum, as I'm a bit sick of it atm.

Anyway have a think, and maybe we can ask....we may not get though, but we could try if people wanted. If not, don't worry, we'll carry on as we are.
