My verdict - Jane was the right person to go I think, she wasn't adapting to different styles and her performances weren't improving like the others.
Mel was great in the paso, bit less so in the foxtrot but I think a more traditional frock may have helped it look better and get her more in the right frame of mind for dancing it. Marie's quickstep was unorthodox but fun, but her cha cha was a bit lacklustre IMHO. Jenny's Vienniese Waltz - well it wasn't even a traditional waltz let alone Vienniese - far too many separations. Plus, where were the repetitive rotations and fleckles, and whatever was Derek referring to with the "American version"??? I like Cameron but I think he's really got to refine his performances if he's going to stay in next week. I thought Helio was a bit off his game again last night, the tango was good but why did he smile through it? And for me the samba lacked something in the way it was portrayed. |

According to So You Think You Can Dance, American Style (Smooth) Viennesse Waltz is a faster version of the regular waltz. So it isn't like ours with the three steps, left turns, right turns and fleckerl.

La Rhumba, just to let you know - So You Think You Can Dance is meant to be starting this weekend (season 3, first UK airing) but it's not listed on any planners. I've emailed Living to ask, shall start a new thread when they have confirmed the start date

What was Mel wearing for her foxtrot last week? Loved the top but the trousers were offputting - I don't mind for the latin (like Kym's in the cha cha last year or even Julianne's trousers and a skirt like thing for the tango last year) but it didn't look right at all, didn't evoke the right feeling of the dance for me.

It's funny, I'm normally Miss Conservative when it comes to the Ballroom, but I must be changing lol! I thought they gave such a charming performance to that song, I liked it, including her cullottes, and I even found myself liking the pop songs for the VW on SCD this week!

Thanks for putting the dances up. You're a star. Only had time to watch Mel B's 2 dances before work. Wonderful work from her and Maks as usual.
