Thanks, thanks, thanks for all the updates and the vid links.
I think the judges got the marks spot on but on the whole the dances disappointed me. Helio had best music choice but Mel is definately the best dancer...who will win. I wouldn't dare speculate but I do hope someone posts a spoiler..lol |

Helio & Julianne - Jive - Let's Twist Again was the best routine imho, but his dancing wasn't really up to it and she really out shone him by miles - this would be a great routine done by two pros.
I think for entertainment value they should win (previously my least favourite out of the three ) - last night wasn't really a dancing competition in the end.Mel B did the most dancing, but was way off her best - shame, as I was so looking forward to a ballroom number from her. If Marie wins (who I love to bits) it will be a crime and I probably won't watch DWTS again. |

Mel and Maks blew it last night what a poor freestyle that was too much of Maks showing himself off instead of his partner - why do we need him on SCD FGS

... Why couldn't they have done an American Smooth type routine with some fabulous lifts, then we'd see her excellent ballroom skills and he could show off with the lifts.

!
Why did Julianne opted to do Jive instead of either Quickstep or Foxtrot where Helio excels in performing????

Firstly thanks for the recaps - although it all sounds like it fell a bit flat really, sadly.
Is our SCD shown over there? I just wondered what they made of it all! |

They had to do their lowest scoring latin dance. The ballroom round is tonight, for the top 2.

That's a shame because it would have been nice to see all three doing ballroom. Can people still vote during the ballroom round tonight? I've already put my votes in for Mel and Maks

![]() Yes, it's a shame that all three of them don't get to do ballroom, especially as last night was a combo of latin/freestyle. It maybe would have been better to have all doing ballroom and latin, and then the freestyle for the final but hey - that's how it rolls. |

That's the point of the "Judges Pick", it wasn't Julianne who chose the Jive. The judges did.
I too would have loved to see their foxtrot. |

Only just started to watch some of the dances, couldn't even bring myself to watch to the end of Marie's showdance, it was absolutely awful, puppetgate was a masterpiece compared to that.
Please help...Is it wrong of me to be more than a little aroused by Julianne in racing leathers? |

Postscript to last night's Finale
I think all 3 couples in the Final have produced some wonderful Ballroom dances during this series, and I think the Producers have made a big error in imagining that Latin and Freestyle is automatically more entertaining.
![]() The audience is watching a reality show about Dancing, presumably because they either love very much, or just casually enjoy Dance. Ballroom is the essence of Dance, and to see a Pop/Hip Hop singer transform herself into an elegant Viennese Waltzer, and a powerful, skillful Paso performer was exactly what this show is all about. Along with seeing a sportsman who had never danced before be coached and taught to perform wonderfully entertaining Fox Trots and Quicksteps. They shouldn't underestimate the power of Ballroom. All this "where couples can ditch the rules and Freestyle" only works if the basic idea is worth watching. Personally, I'm always flabbergasted why the pros feel they can't have a Ballroom Showdance as a Freestyle routine. Why not? A Hollywood Musical type Smooth with attractive lifts danced well would not only be wonderful to watch, but hugely entertaining and, more importantly, IMO, would definitely garner viewer votes in droves! ![]() I sincerely urge the Pros on both sides of the Atlantic to think again about what this 'Freestyle' dance means as it's becoming stale. ![]() Anton & Erin's superb Quickstep/Charleston danced on this week's SCD Results Show is a prime example of making Ballroom fun and entertaining to watch! ![]() For our American Friends, and lovely to have you with us Kathy, here's the video clip of Anton & Erin, who come in after the opening Charleston, with their superb Quickstep. ![]() http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jKLGghml2a4 |

but when I was watching last night well early this morning, I just remember after each couples training clip it would pan back a to the judges and words would appear "Judges picks" or something like that. I may have imagine that as it was way past my bed time
