Based on last nights dances I'd say Helio wins this. Just for that energy he has when he dances and he is very likeable. But they really like to age him with the 50's to 70's themes.
If H/J would have had a choice the mambo would have been better for them than the jive. TBH I'm sick to death of seeing hiphop on DWTS. M/M freestyle was underwhelming and I hate that song. LMFAO @ the Spice Girls booing...and then Carrie-Ann shutting them up! ![]() I liked their chacha without the time wasting intro. Marie's costume and makeup was just awful. The freestyle must have cost her votes. But for someone of any age, Marie's ease of movement in the lifts was impressive. |

You're so good at identifying all the songs Stell, and know them all. I must say that song did nothing for me, and was soooo uninspiring for a Freestyle/Showdance.![]() I liked their chacha without the time wasting intro. LOL at those girls in the audience! Posh just looked morose, as usual, and the other 3 were being bumptious, cos, for once, the studio audience were not booing and were in agreement with the Judges all night!! ![]() Sari - is this a unique record? ![]() Quote:

I so agree, and no-one can say that she can't dance or that she's a *joke* contestant. That Freestyle may've backfired into a hideous mistake, but you've gotta admire the way she moves.

Bruno Speaks!
Yanking this link over from Greytop's Thread:
![]() http://www.thesun.co.uk/sol/homepage...icle511476.ece So, Sarah Nathan went to LA for the DWTS Finale. Be prepared for some coverage - good or bad - tomorrow. Bruno speaks in a video interview about Judging on DWTS. Apparently he got the gig long before Len or Carrie-Ann came on board! |

They shouldn't underestimate the power of Ballroom. All this "where couples can ditch the rules and Freestyle" only works if the basic idea is worth watching.
Personally, I'm always flabbergasted why the pros feel they can't have a Ballroom Showdance as a Freestyle routine. Why not? A Hollywood Musical type Smooth with attractive lifts danced well would not only be wonderful to watch, but hugely entertaining and, more importantly, IMO, would definitely garner viewer votes in droves! ![]() I sincerely urge the Pros on both sides of the Atlantic to think again about what this 'Freestyle' dance means as it's becoming stale. ![]() Anton & Erin's superb Quickstep/Charleston danced on this week's SCD Results Show is a prime example of making Ballroom fun and entertaining to watch! ![]() You are absolutely right about trying a ballroom showdance as a freestyle routine. First of all, no one has tried it yet, so why not? Second, the celebs have a basic understanding of the steps, and the pros can build off of that instead of starting from scratch with a whole new style like hip-hop. But more importantly, the professional ballroom/Latin routines always kill during the results shows. Look at Victor Fung & Anna Mikhed's (sp) performances, for example. The pros have the winning formula right in front of them, so why not use it? I suspect that all of the couples would benefit from doing what sports teams do: watching video of their own performances and their competitors. They seem to get so hung up on practicing new routines that they don't bother to analyze what worked -- or didn't work -- about their previous routines. |

With Marie out third, I guess those who thought that the lone American would automatically win were wrong.

That's really too bad about the webcam. If I had the capabilities I'd definitely help you guys out. Right now the first couple out...Alec and Josie?(she who was deceptively unfit) are doing their encore.
