Articles - Pics
Backstage at the Finale article
http://www.tvguide.com/news/dancing-...tars/071128-04 The winning Moment Pic! Not really a susprise, but Helio splits with his Fiance. (bigtoe, I told you!) http://community.tvguide.com/blog-en...elio/800028458 Oh dear. Yes, it has gone down in DWTS History ![]() Marie's Doll Freestyle - beware includes close-up pic of Marie's face fully made up. ![]() http://community.tvguide.com/blog-en...arie/800028290 Season 5's Top Ten Moments: http://community.tvguide.com/blog-en...ason/800028240 Over 400 gorgeous photos here: ![]() http://www.tvguide.com/tvshows/danci.../photos/191470 I think this has been a really great series due to the very interesting participants that were involved, such a wide divergance of people. I loved classy Jane, and grew to respect and admire Sabrina's unconventional talent, and ofcourse the wonderful pros, who are such an integral part of the show and can make or break a routine with their choreography.

Mel and Maks should have won because Mel was the best celeb dancer in the finale, but unfortunately the only real chance they had of getting more votes than Julianne and Hulio is if they did an amazing free style dance - which they didn't. Hulio and Julianne did so they won. It was predictable that they would win unless Mel and Maks did something amazing.
I hope Julianne is paired with one of the less able dancers next season. It's only fair she is. |

Can you download? I'd recommend downloading individual episodes at UK Nova, as alot of the clips were taken down from youtube a couple of weeks ago.

Hey La Rhumba. If you haven't found it yet, it's episode 7, the one where Wayne Newton leaves. Hope this helps.
Will look for the download, as it was a brill Results Show that week. ![]() Well, are you a happy bunny!? ![]() I hope you've been busy saving the lovely Julianne pics from the TV Guide link I posted above, and have you bought her single yet? I like it lots! I've been humming it to meself! ![]() And luckily we don't have to wait a full year till the next series, just till the Spring! ![]() ![]() ![]()

I was just thinking for Sari and Kathy and other American posters who may have been wondering why I referred to Marie's Freestyle as Doll Gate and compared it SCD's Muppetgate from series 3?
Well, here it is in all it's glory....or rather horror. Not a very clear picture but it gives you the idea, and includes Judge's comments (no scores were given). http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Q-_ceoJYufg Erin's basic idea was apparently to show that Colin, her celeb, and a former track athlete, could "dance well on his own". ![]() Compare it to the Winner's Showdance, who was a Cricketer known as "the fat lad from Barnsley!" ![]() http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=whBqsojFF6w If I was a pro I would definitely check out the videos of what works around the world, and what doesn't in the Freestyle, with audiences and viewers alike, and as you so rightly said Kathy, the pros and celebs should be doing this during the run aswell to gage how to improve their performances and technique and audience appeal. ![]() One things for sure, Sportsmen (and one sportswoman) do very well on these shows the world over - even if they're not necessarily widely known. |

Why can I never resist clicking on these things? It was bad enough watching it the first time round! Poor Erin - great idea, but it really backfired on her.

Aw poor quacka, cos I know you were supporting them in the Final.
![]() Nothing can replace the eerie silence that night though, as we gradually realised.....'they're going to do this all the way through, surely they're going to ditch the dummies and start dancing together' ....but no, they never did. ![]() But Colin has always been such a gentleman about it, and never said a word of criticism about Erin's decision to do it, he only supported her, and that endeared him to everybody, I think.

I like it lots! I've been humming it to meself! ![]() And luckily we don't have to wait a full year till the next series, just till the Spring! ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Can you remember when next spring it starts? My memory is telling me May time but not 100% sure about that. As for Julianne, no pictures, I need to see her moving! So this is a girl who can dance, sing, look gorgeous, all at the age of nineteen. If she can act as well, she could become a big big star, unfortunately probably too big for DWTS. She's also probably going to get a Wayne Newton-esque duffer next year which will be a huge shame. As much as I like her though, I would have liked M & M to have won....A little story about my prancy dancy (a term of endearment used by my household for SCD/DWTS) experience. I was really disappointed by last years SCD. There was the whole Emma Bunton favouritism row, and the winner was always going to be Ramps even though he wasn't as good as some of the other dancers we've had on SCD. Anyway, I felt flat about one of my favourite programs, but decided to give DWTS4 a go. Then along comes Julianne and Apolo and my passion for the program was reborne. Fresh and exciting choreography that blew me away. The whole program had a very different vibe to SCD, especially with my new hero Tom Bergeron instead of useless Bruce. I really thought that Julianne and Apolo could not be beaten as my favourite dancing couple, I enjoyed them that much. Until Mel and Maks came along. Mels personality, her versatility and a reborn Maks with some really classy innovative choreo now has me undecided as to who I've enjoyed the most. I think it marginally goes to J & A because of that initial feeling of excitement but it is too close to call. Sorry that was a bit long winded but I've wanted to relate my recent Prancy Dancy experiences for a while. |

Season 4, the last spring season, started in March and ended in May. I don't think the date for season 6 has been announced yet.

This may be slightly off topic, but with Kelly pulling out of SCD, I have to say my admiration for Jane and Marie has gone up even more. It can't have been an easy decision and only the perosn knows what to do, but to keep on going through such a tough time deserves great admiration.

![]() I've actually calmed down now, and deliberately haven't gone on the SCD Forum this evening as I find it an unpleasant place at times, but after watching ITT I was absolutely livid and sooo upset at how Kelly's withdrawal was handled by Claudia, all the other couples and the whole programme. All have gone down in my estimation. Accepting that both the parents who died on DWTS were in their 90s, and Kelly's Father was only 57 and died of Cancer, so it's very understandable that she felt she had to withdraw, I think it's been totally disrespectful to just sweep it under the carpet the way Claudia did tonight. I didn't expect filmed reports, as DWTS had, however the way the Americans handled it was to openly offer condolences and support and speak about how sad they felt for both Jane and Marie, and were thinking of them. A few words of sympathy from the other couples means an awful lot IMO. ![]() DWTS handled both incidents with warmth and respect, and the contestant concerned felt supported both times. After the initial brief announcement by Claudia tonight, it was then swept under the carpet. None of the other couples said anything, and just carried on laughing and joking as if nothing had happened, the only time it was mentioned again was by Arlene, but Claudia hadn't asked her about it, she had asked "how excited are you about tomorrow's show?" and Arlene answered by saying yes, and she would miss Kelly. That was it, no one else said anything else. The contrast in shows could not have been more marked, and the behaviour of ITT has just disgusted me to the extent that I couldn't care less about this series or it's outcome. It's all geared towards an Alesha/Kenny Final anyway, every single week there's another Logan Family "best friend" on the sofa, and tonight a Cutler family member. Plus what was the filmed report on Matt's Day about with him wearing a poppy? Clearly filmed weeks ago and only just transmitted, with no mention of it by Claudia, were we just expected to believe it was this week sometime? Sergei, you said that you admire Jane & Marie more now, and I do too, but I'm sure Kelly wouldn't have wanted to subject herself to anymore of the nonsense behaviour that greeted her from the Judging Panel last weekend, aswell as obviously feeling she had to withdraw as she couldn't cope with the strain. I think it's so sad that her final solo dance was surrounded by such controversy. ![]() Yes, DWTS is a far superior programme in handling an unexpected crisis, with taste and decency, and with human feeling. |

La Rhumba I wasn't too bothered by the way Claudia dealt with it, Kelly chose not to mention any of this situation herself before his death was announced so it may well have been that people knew about it and out of respect for her chose not to talk about it/ Claudia didn't say much just the bare minimum, which I was ok with. My problem with it came more from other areas. With Arlene, she was the only one who actually expressed her sorrow or whatever a better word for it may be. None of the other couples said or did anything. Maybe it would have been different had we had a couple live in the studio instead of that stupid panel, but I doubt it. I agree the situation was much better handled on DWTS, I'm dreading tomorrow with Bruce/Tess mentioning Mr Brooks passing and Kelly's choice to leave the competition, I pray they can do it half as well as Tom did it.

Sorrow is the perfect word sergei, as always, you express things beautifully in English. I also do agree with you, whilst the 2 couples were rehearsing in the TV studio and talking live on camera, IMO, they should've expressed a few words of condolences to Kelly before laughing and joking, as usual, and that's what I found so distasteful and upsetting.

I cannot believe it but tbh I too have actually prefered DWTS this winter to SCD!
In fact watching one after the other over the W/E's has actually shown SCD up as a rather poor 2nd best imo, especially when I'm under the impression we sold the idea to America .I was upset M&M did not win & it was spoiled too by it being blabbed on a Kelly thread earlier this week before I watched. I think it was the show-dance that did it & I have to say Julianne does seem to know what wows, to give her her due. M&M's just did not work for me & I was very disappointed, I was also a bit deflated with their last dance - it was n't their best by a long shot imo. After last nights damp squid of SCD I'm wondering whether to continue watching, I FF Bruce now & the judges waffle so all I see are the dances & scores so it's becoming a bit boring tbh. Everyone seemed so tense & not on top-form last night (except Gethin) I'm asuming it was the loss of Kelly (which I agree was very badly dealt with) & the stress of two dances. I'm looking forward to Sping's DWTS & if it is on over winter at the same time as SCD next year as usual, I'm going to save it & watch it later & not back-to-back again - as it spoils it I think. (too much of a good thing?). |
