Looking for PAYG phone for around £100
HistoryGirl
17-09-2007
My Samsung keeps restarting and its irritating, so I'm considering getting a new phone and I can't really afford much more than £100 hoping for a little bit less.

Features I would like:

Bluetooth
2 megapixel camera
video recording
MP3 ringtones
GPRS
speakerphone
music player would be cool
Any suggestions?

All the ones I've seen are chrome. The Tesco one is chrome anyway.

Most of my family members are on t-mobile and few people i've known to have been on 3 have said its rubbish. Only links I've been able to find to £99 are pink on tesco its 109.99 (black) on vodafone.

edit: D900i doesnt have video capture just playback.... considering the amount its costs i'd expect more internal memory to be honesy.

The D900i DOES record video, so I don't know where you got that from. You can buy memory cards for it, and it comes with 60mb built in, which is a hell of a lot more than a lot of mobiles come with.

I read somewhere it was only about half of that amount of memory.

I think it was just over a year ago they were with three.

Got one very recently but haven't used it much yet. Suggest you get onto YouTube and look at all the videos of this mobile.

If you are still looking to replace you phone then have you considered the Sony SGH-E590. It's got a 3.2 megapixel camera, music player, radio and bluetooth and it's not very expensive:

I have a W810i. It's an excellent phone, with a very good RDS Radio, Walkman and Ok camera. Call wise reception is very good with good voice clarity. The phone also feels solid and well built.

Only downside is battery drains quickly if using radio / walkman (but that's only to be expected).

Current phone does that so doesnt really bother me much to be honest I have separate mp3 player that I will use for. I really like the look of the Sony Ericsson good phone for the money.

Ive just bought a unlocked O2 XDA Graphite on ebay for £110. All of the above plus 3G support and video calling.

It runs windows mobile 6, so it has windows media player, internet explorer and windows live messenger. 128MB of storage built in, plus a microsd memory card slot (I got a 1GB microsd card for £8). Its also fairly powerfull device, it has a Intel 416MHz processor so can play divx/xvid or other odd video files you download off the internet, or even play DRM'd songs purchased from the itunes music store (with the right software). and oh, did I mention it has builtin 54G WiFi aswell ?

Take a look at it here: http://www.my-xda.com/alreadyHaveGraphite.html

Certainly for £100 it makes the sony ericssons look crap value for money. Unfortunately you can only get them new on a £25 /month contract from 02. So ebay is the only place you can buy one to use on pay as you go packages.
